Can you tow an SVT with a 2 wheel dolly?

U-Haul sucks when it comes to towing. They refused to rent both a pickup and a trailer to me.

We ended up renting the F-150 from them, and borrowing a trailer from a local CEGer. We had to switch out the hitch ball temporarily. They didn't have a clue when we brought it back though.

I was able to tow my home with my lifted F150 on 34" super swampers... Got it all the way home without the car touching pavement once... a little hairy of a ride, but it got the job done.... Traveled 55 miles of freeways and around 15 miles of back roads.

for that much you could buy an old truck with a hitch and a car dolly :blackeye:. Then sell it when you are done

For a second there I thought you said you towed your home. I was all excited about the trip on the back roads.

I found a place that would ship it to me for half the cost of DIY. Not sure what will be decided but shipping seems the cheapest. Can't believe you can't cut costs doing it yourself. Nuts.

Guy at U-haul told me to rent an SUV but previously said trucks from enterprise don't have hitches. So why would an SUV? He said I'd have to buy some of the hitch pieces. How do you make sure you're renting with a towing pkg. w/o looking guilty? The car rental places say that you're not supposed to tow if some didn't know.

I had a friend who rented the UHaul truck and rigged a way to get it into the back of the truck to avoid that extra cost.

Hahah good advice. Didn't know it would fit. Anyone know which size to get? 17' or 24'? Guessing 17' since it has a high enough payload.

99% of the enterprise trailblazers have tow hitches. Just drive by one day and look at thier suv's and see if they have them, and if like 1 color does ask for that color, just say its your fav color. I have done that before when moving.

Well, I think renting a 17' truck is the cheapest way to go if you don't want someone to ship it. At least for me. You also don't have to deal with a car on a trailer. Load it in the back and haul balls. All good ideas here though.

Problem with renting a truck though is their per-mile charges on top of inefficient trucks fuel-wise. Plus you gotta be careful to set the car up so it won't move in transit. Most moving trucks don't offer great tie-downs inside. And if you did a one-way truck rental then you gotta get there too...

Bottom line, if you plan on moving vehicles in the future, it pays to own a dolly or trailer. Wish I did, 3 times last year alone...

Flying is only about $160 a person. Neither Todd nor I are working right now so we have plenty of time to figure this out! :blackeye:

Cool man, just give me enough time to have a sitter for the kids, or my wife off work so she can watch them  And after Feb 12ish would be perfect cause I should have my new suv and party cash:laugh:, and you could only be so lucky to talk like me:blackeye:

How long before you buy that car hauler? You could pick it back up at SZ...

Next month and bwahahahahaha, no cause thats why I am buying it, I am towing the boosted car there this year. No way in hell I would ever drive it that many miles, let alone if I did my teeth would be falling out of my head after that ride from the stiffffffffffff suspention
