What dodge did right was the speed for the price. Not too many cars out there were that fast for so cheap. And there really is nothing wrong withe handling of the SRT-4. I am torn on the car myself. Love the performance and mod-ability but the harshness of the one I drove made me go bonkers....and it was loud!!

Right on the money, they are a little harsh to drive at first.. but afte a while they can still be a good DD.. and I love the loud burble spitting sound, specially downshifting.
 
if I had the choice between my 04 R/T over a 2000 contour svt...

I would of soo took the CSVT.. personally I hated my R/T.. it sounded like a demo derby under the hood on cold mornings!

and rwd/awd owns fwd ANY day
 
nice video montage. gatta admit. but may i be the first to bring out that its a 600hp srt, not urs. am pretty sure a csvt with that amt of hp and torque with "miracle" axles could do the same. :). now that we're over ourselves, think we've hijacked this poor guy's thread enough already? :laugh:

This isn't a SRT-4 vs SVT thread? huh. :laugh:
 
firstly, the name calling is unnescessary. secondly, what u just posted makes no sorta sense. elraido already listed how much u'd need for a 3l turbo.

I'm not saying you're stupid 24/7. I'm saying your ridiculous attempt at defending a 3l CSVT-T is moot. A Stage 1 SRT-4 is going to be faster than just turboing a CSVT 3L. My post made perfect sense. You sound like 90% of Honda owners. They go on and on about how much money they spent to be as fast as LS1 Camaros...whereas you could just buy the Camaro. Spending the 8k on the SVT to make it AS FAST as a Stage 1 SRT-4 is pointless considering for $8k you could just buy the SRT-4 Stage-1.

Sometimes, it's hard to believe how many threads I read about bashing SRT-4's. When will it ever end?
Is this because the car is based off a Neon?
Is this because it's a Dodge?
Is it because those who can't afford one piss on them?

I am lucky enough to have a CSVT and a SRT-4, which a lot of people here know that. For me, I doesn't matter to me who makes it, where it came from, or what people think about either car. I buy what I want, make the cars into how I want.

There is no doubt that any car group, there will always cars look like a POS, others will look damn hot. These two cars, of which I own one of each, neither one is perfect. Each has its own pros and cons. I'll give you some examples.

1. SRT-4, ride height looked like a 4x4. Fix = Coilovers. Saying that, the car felt more tight than the SVT, no creaks or rattles when it was stock. The SVT, sunroof creaks going over bumps (on an angle). SRT is tight as a drum.

2. SVT was okay on power, but looking back, $29100.00CAD 1998 sticker price for 195hp (160 to 170WHP actual stock), SRT-4, $27000.00CAD 2004 sticker price, 230hp (rated stock, actual 225WHP), the SRT-4 is the better bang for the buck. Fix, turbo the CSVT (or supercharge it).

3. SRT-4 only came with front power windows and cloth/fake leather seats, BS in my opinion, because earlier R/T models came with all power windows and full leather interiors. Fix, install a leather interior in the SRT-4 (for those who like leather seats), and install a rear power window kit.

4. CSVT, nicer interior design, has a more timeless exterior design. I can't believe how many people see my car and think it's a brand new car. SRT-4, yes Neon interior, gooky HVAC controls dating back to 1995, but a great set of Viper inspired front bucket seats.

5. Brakes, stock to stock, CSVT is better, and with better pedal feel. Fix, install a big brake kit (on both cars), looks nicer too.

On that note, don't forget of all of the low quality items Ford put in the Contours, items which required constant maintenance, items which recalls and TSBs were required, but even with all of that, if the CSVT came out brand new today, I would still buy one. If the SRT-4 came out new today, I'd still buy one too.

furthest. u're just too immature to realize that its a waste of time for me to spend a bunch of money to get my car from vegas to SZ just to smoke u. if reebs or steebs is gonna be there, he's probably got the same thing i do. i could ask him to embarass u for me. and then we'd see pictures later. :laugh: besides, arent u supposed to be at some arcade or sumthn?

i dont think u're getting it. if i want a fast car from factory, i'd get one. i was only looking at the point of view that for 8gs, u could buy a csvt, 3l and turbo it. geez, its a contour enthusiast website. am sorry for luving em. srts are nice cars don't get me wrong. i said that from my first post. i just refuse to believe that any srt with 235ponies to the wheel will be faster than a 300whp 3l turbo. doesnt add up. i've raced two. i beat both. what else would u like me to tell u to prove that to you? take a look at reeb's(jeff) post earlier in the thread. heres the quote...
I took a stage 2 with turbo toys over and over at only 7.5psi. The reason you don't see boosted contours in the 12's is because there are only a very very small handful of us around and it is all about the tires. With my nice tires I could hold every gear at 7.5psi on a 3L so traction really isn't that much if any worse than a SRT 4.
