Very nice, very nice...

Someone correct me if I'm wrong here, but I think by 1985, Ford was using 302s with CFI in their luxo-yachts. I was too young at the time to know what was under the hood, but my folks had a 1985 Town Car for a few years; I can't remember an engine or drivetrain issue that sidelined the car.

Not sure how one would verify 5k miles vs. 105k... peer under the hood to look for oil leaks?

A carfax might help. Access to the RMV in MA with a VIN would definitely help.

Sweet! Anyone want to buy a Volvo wagon?

Hilarious! Loved this post.

I don't know why I didn't see this sooner -- buddy of mine pointed it out to me. Man, those Crown Vics were great cars. A few months ago, I looked at a loaded (leather, premium sound, etc.) 1987 Crown Vic -- the second year of the SEFI 302. Prior to seeing it, I was pretty jazzed, as it only had 12,000 miles on it, and the Carfax supported that. However, the reality was a different story. While the inside of the car would have cleaned up well, the poor beast had been left outside for a year or two without attention after a lifetime of garaging. Making things more interesting was the fact that the airbox was out of the car when I got there (oddly, the guy selling it was a mechanic -- you'd have figured he'd have had the car running to show it).

In a scene that you wouldn't even have run into on the Red Green show, the guy comes out and starts dousing the throttle body with ether and asks me to turn the key. Nothing. He and an associate start beating hell out of the solenoid, and we key it again. Nothing. We eventually got the crank to turn a couple times, but nothing beyond that. He went into the shop to get a new solenoid, but I tossed the keys off to the second in command and got the hell out of there in search of a cold beer. Sad to see such a noble steed neglected that way. Could have been a stellar car.

Thanks, Elky, for posting this. Even though I'm not in the market right now, owning both the SVT and the supercharged Cougar, it's still cool to see these old boats.

reminds me of the bright red 79 convertible i test drove years ago...if it wasn't for the complete lack of floors, that kitty would have been mine.

Since Cobra is the BMOC (Big Man on Campus) now, what with his new digs at BAE, his high falutin' salary and pretty secretaries in short dresses bending over to pick up the 35 pencils that Mike "dropped" on the floor in front of his desk, it's time for the old boy to pony up for this:

Right colors, too. You'll have to work 'em on the price. Or maybe not.

NO!
He's getting a motorcycle so I can have his other one and finally go riding together.
5 cars is enough, don't tempt him to get more! He gets emotionally attached. :p

I am not sure how one would stable five cars and stay debt free. I would love to fill a finished barn with cars, but that's going to have to happen somewhere down the road.

He likes Fords. Of course he gets emotionally attached. The cars have personality!
