I am buying mirko splitter mold

someone else can do it. No worries. I was just trying to do good. I just want us to get the mold not someone else or the trash can.

Well thanks for stepping up anyway.

Someone else step up please, I'd still help with the cost of the mold, if you do a similar discount thing.

I know it may hurt your feelings to be "chopped down," in which I think we all understand. It is a highly ambitious thing you are trying to do.Alot of people DO NOT want to see this mold disappear. What you are asking for ,is for us to invest our hard earned money into a blind situation.Your effort is appeciated on my behalf to be passionate on saving this piece. But your funds do speak for themselves. This will cost you alot of money, and with your trials and such, that tells us alot of time as well. When you get others involved (part owners),there are expectations.I am willing to contribute to the cause.I believe the mold should belong to ceg and in the care of a reputable and resourceful ceg'r.Anyone wanna step up?I am 100% in on contributing because on I am 100% on wanting one.Hope this works out.

Something doesn't sound right about this at all.......

Are you sure you didn't just put a deposit on an actual splitter? Since when has Mirko Racing ever offered to sell the splitter mold to anyone?

Livinsvt was going to buy it ~6 months ago.

this all reminds me of some guy about 2 years ago that came on here and said he went to Mirko and that they had stopped making them and he purchased the last two.

well someone called up mirko and they had 5 on hand and where able to make more. You ask how I know? I purcashed one of the 5 that where ready to ship within a week of the post that they where no longer being made.

something still sounds funny to me but I would believe this post more then any other I have read in this thread so far.

I believe mine was part of that same batch of 5.

As much as I would love to contribute, I cannot trust a random stranger on the internet with my cash towards goods that aren't even near being produced. How many times have group buys fell through because we pay into getting an item made or a deal and then have to fight to get the money back when it doesn't happen?

If you can't afford the mold, you shouldn't be doing it, period. If it's that important to you, take a personal loan or charge it. Would you walk up to a stranger on the street and ask for a loan or partnership in a business? I doubt it.

Details needed to be sorted out 100% before posting about the item. No one wants to sit here and sort through a thread like this trying to understand how it's all going to work.

I've already stated what will be done and amounts.
I've explained a few times I believe how it would work.

I understand many of you don't know me. None of you do actually!

Regardless, no one seems to be wanting to take over the deal. So now what do we do? no one has even contributed yet.

My word is all I have to give to you guys and I don't throw it out there for anything. I would TOTALLY be putting my word on the line with you guys! Again like I said it will take time. But it WILL happen. Good things come with time. But hey you guys have all the info you need on this. So I am pretty much done talking about it. I have said all I can. I actually start a second job soon(PT). hopefully. fingers crossed.

Honestly I am sure I will have enough to pay for it myself once early december arrives.

A friend of mine that used to work in a body shop and I have been talking non stop about this and other stuff we want to work on. Entire trunk enclosure of carbon fiber or kevlar. A sub box cover. I mean everything.

This is no joke gentlemen. If just the people that replied to this thread contributed $25 each we'd already have around $350.

I would be beyond hesitant to do what I'm asking you guys to do. But I mean, look at my dedication I've already given him a deposit thinking to myself the c.org guys will help.

I am hurt or whatever you want to say yea who wouldn't be but i'm not a baby. I was in the Marines. I can take a little dissapointment and be just fine, trust me.

I have bought TWO vehicles off of trust. I bought my CSVT as a matter of fact with just my word. I told the guy I would give him payments of 350-400 everymonth. And yes I missed ZERO payments and the car is now mine in full. Same thing with my motorcycle. I know it is not exactly the same but if I say i'll do something I will do it. And I take pride in keeping my word. Cuz like i said, it's all you have. Which isn't good for much anymore. unfortunately.

Anyone that's enough out of me, for now.

OH and by the time all of this is said and done. I will have my posts way up so then you can REALLY trust me! :blackeye:

I would contribute $50 but then I would want a free splitter and x% of the profit from each splitter. No matter how honest you say you are there is no way that you would be doing this for 100% free. I would also need to see a record of each order, the cost of materials, the cost of shipping, the cost of packaging supplies, the percent of material wasted per splitter made, etc.

If a business is what you want to start, a business model is what you need to come up with if you want investors.

No offense but unless you are already in the CF/FG business you are not going to get many people to throw money at it. Its one thing to invest money into the mold but you are not helping the community if you cant reproduce quality products at a reasonable time frame. Do you have experience? Pictures?

If true Im sad to here that they will not making them any longer, I have been patiently waiting for funds to come available for my purchase.

If anyone has a good relationship with Mirko and/or Top Shop maybe they can arrange a transaction. Possibly Topshop can work with the community to offer the product at the same or less price and additional materials as well.

I can find someone to make the product if I don't have success, which i'm sure I will.

I have already found someone that can make them. Don't know on a price yet but.

And I have made zero items out of fiberglass, carbon fiber, kevlar, etc. etc. etc.

But I know I can do it and get it to a professional level.

It seems no one is interested anymore though. . .

Why doesnt someone just buy it that can afford a measly $400 instead of doing this borrowing money from members to pay it off? Sounds like a bad business deal ready to go south.

I'd buy it...it just wouldnt do much good sitting in my storage unit.

EDIT: I have a tough time believing Mirko would just throw away the mold anyways.

I bet a bunch of people would be interested if he didn't already have a deposit on it. I'm just trying to be respectful and not snatch it up from under him. I doubt a random CEGer would do the same though.

It's like posting about your "dream SVT" that you're picking up tomorrow and giving the address, dealer, price, etc and wonder why it was grabbed off the lot before you had a chance.

I'm gonna call and get more info on this tomorrow and go from there and if this is in fact happening I would like to own the mold

if i get the money to buy it we save the mold so

A) we don't lose it to the trash can
B)so ass doesnt get it and charge 500-750 for a splitter.

those who contribute will get a splitter at a HUGE discount.
and can get it in their choice of fabric/color.

I have found a few sites that sell good quality fabric for molding auto parts.

are you doing just hand layup? vacuum bagging? how many layers are going into these? do you have experience in making parts? do you know how hard it is to conform carbon to convex/concave pieces?

id like to see bagged do it. he has experience in making parts

I'm sorry but we're out of them and aren't making any more due to lack of demand...

I can sell you the mold if you want to find a mfr to make them for you..

Why would you xx out the phone number? His cell number is listed on the website :)

NO PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE. I am not trying to gain anything from this you need to read the entire thread. I want US to have it. I just happen to be going fairly close to his shop so I could pick up the mold. Someone send him the remainder. . . and send me my 115 obviously. Or just consider my 115 an investment and give me a great deal on one you make. THAT LOOKS GOOD.

No i've never made one. But give me a month or a few tries at it and I will have a splitter you all will be satisfied with!

So who the hell is gonna take this deal over?
Since no one will contribute someone needs to take it over or I will just take back my deposit. ? ! ? !
