Just came back from the strip...

Running the updated pcv/valve cover breather on the oval port engines helps out a lot with this as well. It's a much better design and helps prevent all the oil and carbon from building up...

Were you ever able to scan in your slip? A 13.5 with the above mod list is definitely not the norm, so the more information the better. We all know that the Duratec motor "generally" does not respond well to N/A mods. For instance, I had a 3L hybrid with MSDS headers, Bassani catback, short ram intake, 65mm T/B and a decent tune. I know that dynos vary, but that setup put down 206fwhp and 195fwtq. I'm not here to debate the hybrid and the straight 3L, I'm here for insight. Would you say that the ST220 UIM, true duals, and the oval port heads are enough to gain ~40 more HP over the above mentioned setup? If this is the case, people should definitely be trying their best to mirror your setup.

Before any tuning or the 65mm T/B, I was making 196fwhp / 191fwtq, and with a 2.13 60' time and some really good shifting(very minimal wheel spin), my best time was a 14.4 @ 96mph. My best trap speed was 97mph. To gain a full second at the end with an 8mph increase in trap speed, and a slower 60' time, I'd gauge you to be in the 240whp range at a minimum, which is incredible!

If he is hitting 13.5's thats almost a 1 full second quicker than you, he has to be making 250whp. Or has someone pulling him down the track :)? Be honest were you running snobs nitrous kit

HAHA that kit is sitting in my basement still :).

Which, consiquently used to be my nitrous kit.

But yes, there has to be some logic in here, other than "he built his motor with more thought than anyone else."

My 2cents:

When i first watched the video, i instantly knew he had some good tires on there. (hence my question) Watch any other contour drag, and you hear LOTS more tire spin(even his other 14.X video) , Maybe the drag radials did it? I can't recall anyone using drag radials on a Contour...
Might be a combination of that and good driving.

DR's and a good launch can do miracles.

there are people with damn near stock fox body mustangs that hit 12's with a great driven and right conditions, but my favorite line from the write up... "If you're afraid of breaking something, you aren't gunna get the time"

Yeah in his other video he ran a 14.0X. So if he did a few other mods and added drag radials and corrected his :censored::censored::censored::censored:ty tune as he stated in his 14.0 second run then yes it is possible he can run a 13.5.

Either way good job.

The only reason it chirps and spins just a little is that it was my first time i was out on the track for the day and I didn't launch it too high since I wanted to see how sticky the track was which turned out to be pretty sticky... The 60 foot was 2.27 which is pretty bad, you can see that in the vid as well...

BTW I had the drag radials on for the 14.X video as well but that was at another track nearby which always sucks... It started raining that day before I had a chance to do anymore passes.

I also want to add that nima has my old bumper which weighs A TON! Ask those who have listed it. I think the majority of those with good times know how to drive plain and simple.
