Magnaflow Resonator or Straight Pipe ??

this is a se 2.5 with gutted cat stock res and no muffler..... im soon to be running dual 3.5"x18" tips on this set up..... total cost will be $125 at local exhaust shop, cost to date.... $5 for replacement bolts at cat to remove to gut...
IMO, can't beat the sound for price ratio...

Yeah that doesn't sound bad...especially with that price.

He said he has cheap mufflers on the back which can sound raspy just like the stock mufflers do but you have magnaflows on the back which usually sound deep instead of raspy.

My mufflers have a little tone to them, but they aren't as deep as I'd like. I just called them "cheapy" mufflers because I got them on Ebay and I forget the brand. But they definitely don't sound like the bumble bee Hondas.:laugh:

After reviewing some soundclips, I think I might try the straight-pipe section inplace of res. It would be the cheapest route, so I could always do something different if I don't like the way that turns out. But I'm not sure how soon I can get up to the local exhaust shop...

i have had 2 diff setups on my sable (duratec) first was no muffler and a thrush glasspack in place of the resonator, it sounded awesome! but i was stuck on getting duel tips...
so... current setup is V8 sho from rear "axle" back. but i started out with the glasspack but it was sagging from the weight so i cut it out and straight piped it, it sounds just the same as before i removed it... right now it is not loud infact i think it is too quiet it does have more "growl" then stock though

mine is gutted cat stock rez with no muffler.... i have 95% no rasp except really cold out and engine cold and no backfiring....

i have seen alot of clips with same setup as mine but sound way worst i dont know why, but i love the way mine sounds


not in the clip but i finished it out with a scion tc tip and it looks absolutely stock and i get a few complements on it here and there
 
repo that sounds awesome! So to clarify, you have the center muffler and not the back one? I see muffler and resonator get interchanged a bit vocabulary wise
 
yeah i literally just took the rear cat out and gutted it completely and then cut off rear muffler and ran it straight with a scion tc tip from toyota


i dont have mil so cel light comes and stays awhile and sometimes disappears for a day or so but i dont care about the light some day ill get off my lazy a$$ and get mil

IIRC your cel isn't coming from the main cat being gutted. Because the o2 sensor goes in front of the main cat. :cool:

Glad you enjoyed your 5-6whp gain. I found my SE to have the main cat already gutted when i took her apart. Saved me a bunch of work :laugh:

your right, i havent been under my car in a year now until today finally the voltage reg went out on it and im replacing the whole alt.....

i throw like four codes but... cant remember them and i obviously reset the cel with the battery being out for two days.... ill wait and see what they come up as next time....

oh yeah, i love the power my car puts to the pavement.... i can tell there is a little weakness in the motor mounts but not bad...
