Now is it clutch chatter or "gear roll over noise"?

I don't know about you guys, but I have this chatter noise going on sitting in nuetral with the clutch engaged. I've had it with all 3 clutch setups that I've put in. I've been told it was gear roll over noise but all my friends are like, no, that's clutch chatter. Your flywheel this, clutch disk that, throwout bearing this.

So what exactly is it? And what exactly is gear roll over noise? To my understanding, it's the "slop" in the gears which causes the noise.

mine does it too. Been wondering the same thing. I've noticed though, that if i let out the clutch really slow, it wont make the noise.

I have something too. Clutch pedal pushed in and idleing, no noise. Idleing and clutch pedal left alone then it 'clacka-clacka-clacka-clacka'

Ps, I'm sure most/all of us are running royal purple syncromax fluid. I think that's the reason why.

Hmmm, I guess not just a fluid thing then...... :ponder:

I didn't have any noises before my torsen trans, svt flywheel, or royal purple. Got all 3 at the same time.

What clutch are you running? Stock?

I had the same thing with my spec. Sounded like a helicopter! It's perfectly normal unless your clutch is stock.

I noticed it after i had my trans rebuilt with the Torsen

I"m running a LUK clutch

It's gear rollover noise. Mine's done it since the day I bought it.

Clutch "chatter" is a vibration felt through the pedal on engagement.

So this isnt anything to worry about? Although, i havent really worried too much since i put the trans in and heard the noise.

I wouldn't worry about it. My 3L had a noise at idle with the clutch pedal out. I had a competition stage 2 clutch. My brothers 02 Mustang GT has the same noise along with several other friends of mine.

This .... the used MTX75 I picked up had coated gears that HMS does, and its pretty quiet.

Also if one is running a ceramic clutch the dust will get into the tob and cause it to make noise over time.

How loud is it for you guys? is pretty loud on mine, and even when driving i can hear it, but only in first and 2nd and most noticalbe when slowing down.

^ this exactly.

I can't get any audio recording on it because of wind noise in the mic, but mine is very noisy in 1-2 while decelerating in gear.
