Oh the humanity

   Sorry to see that! Why can't people respect other peoples things!

Same thing happend to my Mustang, but they ripped the top:cry: Sorry to see that.:nonono:

I would think a battery back-up inside the HU connected to a receiver and a trigger on the explosive. A low power transmitter in the car. When the radio is taken out of range of the transmitter, it triggers the explosive. I think the basic setup of something like that would be pretty straightforward. Now, finding/making a low-power explosive to use...I doubt that would be legal! :D Sure sounds nice though, and gives you a warm fuzzy feeling when you think of a thief losing a hand to something like this!

But you'd definitely want to remember to disarm it before disconnecting the power to work on your car!!!

Ideally it should have about 30 seconds streaming video or multiple stills and transmitted to a remote and/or cell phone via media messaging or similar technology.

You can ask around.. plenty of people on here have heard about what I've placed in my black SVT. I think Brapple was one of them that I spoke in depth with. Needless to say, I've been ATTEMPTED to be broken in two twice.

They never got anything from my car, AND I got to see it all afterwards, and turned it in to the police.

Well, crap.. my memory sucks then. I had a 5 or 6 page PM conversation with SOMEONE about a very involved and in depth system. Multiple stages, multiple "layers" of defense..

Now I have to go find out who.. brb.

EDIT: I'm back and the PM's are officially not saved.. so I don't know!

no he said his HU has some sort of locking face plate that won't open if the unit is stolen, i wanna know how the HU would determine if it was actually stolen.

Actually, I thought (without re-reading) that he said he had a locking faceplate... not a faceplate that locks CLOSED..

as in: locks via code/locked out of use, if removed.

Wow, that sucks. There seems to be alot of that going around lately...kinda makes me nervous. Best of luck getting her repaired.

I don't know how or even if it works at all, just what I was told. Maybe it works on the same principle as the Eclipse HU's?

That security feature on my Eclipse head unit doesn't even work. I have switched it from one vehicle to another and it never asked for the CD that is supposed to be the key.

And sorry to hear about your stuff getting smashed and stolen. My first CD player was stolen at high school when we were there for 4 hours for grad rehersal. I was more upset about the CD I had in the player than anything. What CD was in yours?

Had a faceplate (yep... just the faceplate, not the entire unit!) out of my GL when I was dating a girl in New London, CT. They got a bag o' tapes (85% mix tapes... joke's on them!) and my leather jacket.

Like my dad says... he's never met a criminal with a MENSA card...
