I promiss to have the pics asap. I work in Irvine, Ca. and a couple of days ago i decided to go take some sneek peeks at the Saleen Manufacturing Plant. As i was driving around the back, Looking at all the new saleen trucks and mustangs, what do i see????
The glorious Supercharged 99 Saleen Contour ROTTING away. It didn't look like it had been driven for months!!!! I'll be sure to get the pics up next week.
 
ya i (among others) inquired about it...they want too much for it, i was deadset on making an offer and trying to snatch it up, but not for $20k

Yea didn't they take off the superchager years ago? Last I heard on the old site someone was really interested in buying it and did a lot of talking with them. From what I can remember the car doesn't run worth a crap. The engine needs to be rebuilt, it isn't tuned properly as they just removed the supercharger and did not update the software in the ECU.

The cool thing about the car is that it has real carbon fiber panels on along the inside and a unique body kit made by Saleen. However as mentioned it is not worth the $20k and the person that was really interested could not talk them down any further... RespectTheContour not sure if that was you or not...
 
ya i emailed them back and forth for about two weeks, it has a bunch of dings and dents too, some of the carbon fiber is cracked...it has under 5k miles but they say it isnt very driveable, the move it in and out of their shop everyday, and thats it, i guess it hasnt been over 30 mph in years, i cant remember the guys name at saleen that i was dealing with but i was waiting on interior pics, but thats where the talks ended, kept getting the run around...i think elky made em an offer too
 
yeah...not worth the money.
dealt with them for almost 2 months. car is moveable, but they wont get into details about what it needs to be a driver.
hopefully they get smart and drop their price before they send it to the crusher.
 
I will say the car has a crapload of work into the body flaring. It's been a long long time since I've looked at it closely; must have been way back when they were at thier old shop the last time I saw it. I spent almost a week at thier current facility last year, and didn't even see it once.
 
i dont think he meant it literally, i think he was saying that he hope someone can buy it before it sits around their shop and gets more beatup and forgotten about
 
It sounds like their still a little too proud of it. It will only become affordable when they realize that it's true value continues to drop with time and as they continue to remove things from it.

With as much as it needs right now it would only be worth $2000 tops right now.
 
my take on saleen, overpriced JUNK! all they do is break down.

now the company that can make a ford really good is roush.
 
I remember reading about that car awhile back at an autoshow. It's a one off, which is kick ass. Wish they would of made more, or made a kit that you could buy for the svt contour.
 
the only reason i really wanted it was because of the one-off factor.
but all in all it is still Contour.
