saw my first challenger srt-8 thurs.

best i've done is 14.4. first run @ a track ever. i'm shootn to go again in a few weeks when the track opens up again. obviously, from a dig, it would take me. but i usually catch up before the next light. rolling tho is much easier:)

So what you're saying is... let me sum up... that you're street racing in a car with a top 14.4 1/4 mile time, and catching up as the other car is slowing down... or taking it from a rolling start where they're geared lower than you?

Not what I would call "raping" Mustang GT's.

I think the challenger is definitly hot. Depending on the Mustang redesign for '10,it would be possibly my top choice if I was getting that type of car.
As for this whole raping Mustang GT's debate. If he's putting 320 to the wheels in a Contour, against a Mustang rated from the factory at what 300 crank....wouldn't really surprise me at all. Just my .02

A couple problems I have with this car....

-It's really heavy (over 150 lbs heavier than a GT-500, with 65 less HP)

-If I have a car this cool, I would like it to spin both tires ALL THE TIME(stupid electronic diff), and I would like to shift (no stick!) it myself, and also steer it myself (TC never actually turns off!)

This car would be awesome if it wasn;t so friggen neutered! Chrysler just can't seem to get things perfect with anything!

6-spd manual offered in '09, and likely can turn TC off.

You'll be able to smoke plenty of tires with the '09 Challenger... at least in the R/T or SRT-8 flavors.

Though for $40k from the factory, I'd rather take a GT500!

Maual is cool and all, but will the TC actually turn off????

And yes, I'd much rather have a GT500. It's a much more raw car:drool:

i dunno. i think i'd take the challenger over the gt stang. its just so uber cool and hot at the same time:drool: the stance is gorgeous.

Then how 'bout if you're in the mood for spending extra money for no reason :)laugh:), why not just get a GT500, and tear the Challenger to pieces with a real Shelby:shrug:

BTW, stance can be crrected, as seen in this thread:drool:

street racing??? i have no clue what u're talking about;)... (whispering) try'n to get me banned? look, those who've driven this car with some sorta forced induction know its capable of holding its own out there. it might not look pretty doing it, but it does.

So how was the ride? ;)

it was great, this was one of gm's test cars so I don't know how much they changed but the car was super quick and resonpsive. I think they did a great job and the converable is very nice as well and I'm not much of a very guy I like the hard tops.

there's a local guy who bought one of the orange ones. i get sick of looking at it knowing what money he bought with it. but nonetheless good looking cars though.

It's too expensive, and the fact that it's an Auto only really irks the living crap out of me.

TGO, if you think Silver looked good, you should see it in black.

yeah black is pretty schwag too!

i really liek the challenger. i think dodge outdid ford on the retro styling. i also like the new camaro but i don't think chevy went full retro with it like dodge did with the challenger.

now if only the team who designed the new challenger didn't have their heads up their asses....

I don't know about the Challenger for certain, but for example, I can turn it off in the GT at the flick of a switch. IIRC, there is an option for TC to be switched off.

One of the car rags did a comparison between the Challenger and a GT500. They complained about the GT500 because it was... whiny. I mean... it's SC'ed. It WILL whine! But performance-wise, they were pretty even. Which makes the Challenger that much more impressive considering it's capable of keeping up with a car that's a lot smaller and more powerful.

I've seen a Challenger SRT-8 around here a couple of times. It's a badass ride... but oddly quiet when it rolls by.
