Stage 2 Driveshafts

they should do im sure i saw they were for the cougar and contour and also the engine is the same as the gearbox so should fit fine, im not too sure on the hub side of things but im sure they will be fine :)
Unless the cougar has the exact same front end they will not work. Shaft length will be off and you will break an axle. Make sure they are interchangable beforehand.

The only thing different with these so called stage 2 axles are the green cv boots...

The weak point for most axles and ours are the spline areas and to make a better upgrade you would want bigger beefier splines meaning new bearing/hub/spindle assembly on the outer side and way more custom stuff for the inner...

if this is true, then why buy them? am lookn to get a pair of these. but if the weakpoint remains the same, then whats the use?

I am sending the axle in monday to either repair it or get a brand new one and the shop that installed it is paying for the axle, shipping, tranny flush, and tow bill. Great shop and they stand behind thier work good or bad.

what happened? Did your stage2 driveshaft break? Sounds a bit concerning that u have only brought them and they have broken :(

No it didnt break, it wasnt installed correctly and slipped out and stripped the last 1/8" of the splines. It wasnt locked into the circlip and the shop took full responsability for it.

ahh i see ill make sure when i install mine that it clicks in and ill give a tug to see if it doesnt come off, its a bit worrying now but surely the right hand side wont come off as it is being held in by the bracket on the engine block, the right one doesnt have a bracket but then again the hubs should hold in into position with the strut as well, i havent done mine as im waiting for the headers to come in from my turbo kit to fit them then will make sure they are installed tight, is it just the circlip that might need replacing or was it just like your was bad ?? any info apprecaited thanks

I got my axle back from drive shaft shop, it was $137.00 with shipping to fix the spline, thats it. I am taking all the recipts to the show tomorow to get my money paid back to me, but its reasurring that if one were to break (knocks on wood) its only $137.00 to fix it.

thats ok, im glad they fixed it for u, my axels feel quite good on the car but since im here in texas im not driving it right now but it felt good when i was driving the car so my set up must be working good, cant wait to fit the turbo kit on there, gonna have a kick ass st24

So Ryan I know you snapped your stage 2 axle at the track in prep for PassTime. Did you take pictures of it and did you ever contact the Driveshaft Shop about the failure before you sold your car? I'm looking to upgrade my axles to support my little 400whp monster that will soon come alive (soon being this winter lol). DSS is the only place that makes aftermarket axles supposedly and I was thinking about buying them. Let me know!

i dont think the DSS II axles will help much. at least the experiences of others havn't proved otherwise. if u've got a bit of money, contact them to make u a custom one. be sure to reiterate to them which part of the axle that needs the most support... which is the splines i believe.

just get some new ones cryo treated. i know there is a place in/near Chicago that does it and they warranty every thing they cryo not to break. unfortunately i cant think of the name of the place off hand.

Doing it. Nice find. I like the slogan... "simply unbreakable" I'll put that to the test. I'm also going to put in an interest check in the GB forum to see who all would be interested. I've got a inquiry out with these guys asking what it would take and what kind of price I'd be looking at for just a single order and an order of 10 to start.

Now it's just the waiting game...

I'd be interested in a set pending prices of course.
