the infamous spec

true. but the variables are many. who did the flywheel, how was it done, was it clean, was it torqued properly, is the input shaft good, etc...many possible installation errors. the only one could have been the way the flywheel was resufaced. but then again, the guy who machined it last week, said it wasn't done that bad...but could have been done better...
anyway, i installed the new clutch and i drove to North Carolyna with it. it is really really smooth. I have not shifted above 3-4K rpms, but I will try it in a few days. Just wanna make sure it is properly fitted.

eitherway, thanks for all of you that gave tips and suggestions!

ohh, and i have a small (4p) how-to that i wrote off the top of my head, so if you think that it will be good to have something like that, i could post it some where, and then you guys can expand it and make it more detailed...i guess. but i think it will be nice to have something like that for guys that want to do the job on their own.

I, as most other mods, are of the stance that ANYONE that takes the time to write a how-to that is informative, in an UNDERSTANDABLE presentation, and not confusing is fine!

I would suggest PM'ing the forum mod (for the forum that you are wanting it in) a copy of your how-to, instead of posting it. This will allow the mod to fine-tune or detail the how-to before posting. Once completed, he/she will post it and either link (or PM the mod who CAN link) it in the Zetec/Duratec maintenance or how to forum FAQs.

Flywheel runout specification

Flywheel runout specification

if the flywheel is new..no, it doesn't,,i guess. if it is a used flywheel and you are puting a new clutch on it, yes you need to resurface it.

just got mine from the machince shop. it looks pretty good, but we will see how it performs. i will work on my car all night long i guess. he said that the step is around 12mm or in inches, he measured it to be 0.472.
he said that it wasn't done so bad the first time, in terms of the angle it was machined at. he expected it to be worse, but it wasn't centered well, so i duno what to think anymore.

i lifted this from a thread from 2007. Is the 12mm step correct? That is from the main surface to the surface that the pressure plat mounts to correct?
