yup

Your lucky. I didn't think a battery will last much past 10 minutes with a dead alternator.

One thing I really didn't check was the battery, but being that I was able to drive the car to work without issues I'm thinking it is ok. Car drove normal, even past 5K rpms, so out comes the wallet - quick call to Steve and it looks like I'm out ~$160 + $75 core... ;(

My exhaust is fresh - header to the resonator, so I'm just going to start by removing the y-pipe, everything looked tight under there with the exhaust in place.

I've searched this board and the cougar board all morning - it looks like the job isn't that bad, just need lots of extensions. Any obvious tips - thinking of having Steve see if he can get this pigtail for me as well.

Sounds like Tousley can get it for me as well - :)

Yeah you can reach through the driver side wheel well to get the top bolt off, just takes two people. One two hold the ratchet one to put the socket on the bolt. That is really the key to getting it out quickly. I don't think I even took the y-pipe off, and I know I didn't take the axle out. If you fumble with it enough it will come out the passenger wheel well near the tie rod and axle. Only took me about 2-2.5 hours.

Almost made it home... lol. They battery I brought had posts on the opposite side and I didn't have tools to make it work. A quick call to a good friend and I had tools, ripped the battery box out, pulled the cables to fit and prayed the shelf would hold for 40+ miles. I got the car running just as that huge storm started hitting and I made it home in the nick of time, on battery power. Back to carpooling in the morning - damnit I just want to drive this car for more then a month without something else going wrong...

Next time I'll make sure I duck when I drive by the cop. I'm sure that will work...
I guess there are benefits to living in a smaller town than the cities. I know where a cop would hide so I account for that. Though they are worse than bugs and are everywhere.
You sold the WRX? WTF?
Yeah cause he's worse than a used car lot.

Cars the wife and I have had since joining this site...ahem

Why do I want to say I am missing a couple. The reason why I sold the WRX was it was more of an impulse buy than anything. We were in the process of selling the Navigator and I needed something to drive. WRX came up and said sure. Body had dings and dents and some poor repair work to it. High miles. Honestly, I think it was a ticking time bomb ready to go boom. That and it was just too small.

It is tempting, but another 3+ hour drive in one direction to get one. :) And after the 3.0L and built tranny, I can't settle for anything less. Porsche Cayanne is looking mighty tempting.....just about $5K too much though. :(
