yup

Replaced my alternator this weekend - had the the old out and the new one installed in around 2hrs. It's a simple job - I took off the y-pipe and had my brother bring home some tools; I asked him for some 6 point metric stuff and some extensions. This is what I had for extensions, made this just a cake walk with the CV as well.

The old alternator was a Ford reman... I had to use a vise grips on the shaft to get it to spin, it made horrible squeaking noises. I can't believe it didn't lock up in the car

I felt like more punishment and wanted the A/C working in my car again. I swapped out the condenser I picked up and headed to the store to get a new battery and refrigerant. Started pressurizing the system and where the hoses get close down by the compressor they rubbed a hole i one of the lines... :nonono: I traced the line to the compressor, and it goes into a block to the low pressure side where it runs across the core support, to the expansion tank, to the wheel well and eventually to the backside of the motor - I am not replacing all of that for A/C

Sunday I was game for even more so I rented a spring compressor and yanked the strut out of the rear to fix my rubbing issue. The spring is fine, the strut is shot and I still don't know why the tires rub now when the old ones didn't at all. The strut had no rebound and at 162K needs replacing.

The AC in my Cougar needs some work as well. I picked up a new AC line a while back and still haven't wanted to pull all the old lines and install the new ones. I'm guessing I nicked the old line during the supercharger install.

I have two rear KYB struts I picked up from Blu Fuz. It looks like I'm not going to use them so if you want a set for the rear that are in good shape for cheap let me know.

I would almost do it. I haven't made it to the dealer ship on that murano but we had a big hail storm that went through. A couple of days ago.

Looked like it is gone anyways :( I have a price on the FX35, just have to deside if I want to spend that much or not. The thing is loaded beyond belief. RWD bias until the AWD kicks in. Can lock the AWD in....has a snow mode to prevent the tires from spinning. 280 hp 260 ft/lbs torque.

Well I got the new water pump in my car. I ran it for a while. Is there some place to fill the radiator and such that I'm just not seeing? The system sucked in a bit of the coolant I poured into the tank but not much. I'm gonna screw around with it a bit more on Friday. Getting two of my old tires thrown back on and an oil change. Hoping things will be much better then.

elradio,

Look into the gas mileage on those FX's I've heard they drop into the single digits in the winter. Despite what some think they are not at all related to the Murano. The Murano is built on a different platform and was great on gas (19mpg was the lowest it ever got). The MKX we are driving now isn't so great. We get about 17mpg on average but that's a Ford for you. If you owned a Navigator before mpg might not be what you are concerned about though... lol

Fat_Guy,

Buy the struts! Looking for about $70 for the two and they seem to be in great shape. They are KYB's and are low miles. I bought them for my brother's SVT (graduation present) but decided to go with a cold air intake instead. He said he picked up some hp from the intake so he's pretty happy.

Yeah, I have been looking up on them and they say that they are based on the G35's platform and not the Murano's....engine is basically the 350z's. Gas milage normally is hovering around 20 from what I have read. Not too bad coming from 280 hp engine with awd. The only other thing I am finding right now is a 04 BMW x3 with the 2.5.

Well, looks like we will be getting a murano after all. 2005 SL AWD with touring package. 68K. NADA is $20K, out the door for $16521.50. Favorite feature is the inteli key. Just need it on my to open the door and start the vehicle. :) It just popped up on a dealers lot today, they were looking around a little bit for us actually and came across it. Dark dark maroon, black leather interior, sunroof, heated seats, bose. Hopefully get it either Saturday or Monday.

Very nice.... When yah going to sell it ;)

Not sure yet :) I figured maybe in around 5 months. lol. Test drove a BMW x3 last night as well. For it having no real power (2.5 inline 6), I was impressed how amazing smooth it was to drive. It has a NADA value of almost $18K and she is asking $12.5K/OBO. VERY clean. First thing that popped into my head was the wife doing about 95 down the highway not realizing how fast she was going (she has a bad habit like that). So, Murano or X3. Murano, X3. X3 cheaper but 185 hp vs 240...and a lot less features than the murano.

The in laws buy BMW and all of them have been covered no matter what. Although the dealer has then for weeks sometimes. The mother-in-law's 530i was in for 8 days because the keys stopped working!
Be prepaired!
