yup

Pulled the motor out of the Cougar a few weeks ago to swap the Spec 3+ clutch for a stock clutch. Sold the Spec clutch to some guy out in WA for $450 (woot!). That clutch still looked new so he'll be happy. I also swapped oil pans because my old pan was leaking due to the SC oil drain hole I drilled in it. Before dropping it back in I cleaned up everything I could and rattle canned any bad scratches in the engine bay. It turned out pretty good. I'm happy.

Put new trunk struts on my Cougar last night so the trunk will stay up in the cold instead of whacking me in the head.

The last thing I still need to change is find another exhaust. I want something really quiet. My exhaust sounds great and all but I'm old and I want something quiet and smaller now that I'm back to NA. lol If anyone is still looking for a nice aftermarket exhaust that will be putting some power down you need this exhaust. :) Come check it out. It's 3" stainless, welded, incorporates the cat section (catless), main muffler is a polished Magnaflow, Borla resonators near the tips, and tips are rolled angle cut 3" tips. Willing to trade for a stock SVT exhaust plus some cash.

Well I know I don't chat on here much, but I figured with the title coming (hopefully) soon, I'd post up some Info...
A couple know me on other sites (mnfocus & mnfords) names Rob. Currently live in Lake Elmo, MN, and I normally drive a 2002 SVTF, with a few bolt-ons. I bought a green CSVT a couple years ago and loved it, but had to sell it, so I picked up a red one that has been a major hassle with getting the title.
Well to make a long story short, and add a new one... I came back from my deployment in Iraq this December, and got into contact with the guy. He said he has the lien card and the title is on the way. He calls me a couple weeks later and we met up. He signs the title and goes to tear the little corner part off for him to send in.... and he rips the entire title in half. Mind you this is after over 18 months of waiting for a new title.
*sigh*
Well He ordered a new one and I am waiting on it currently. Should be here this week, and HOPEFULLY I can get it transferred, finish up the little bit of work on it and drive it.
Beyond that we picked up a 2001 Sport trac for a winter vehicle. (another stupid story)
After replacing the motor and getting ready to put shocks, brakes and a steering rack in it, it might run fine. lol
Its been a wonderful time home, and I will probably be out of state for a couple months, but I hope I can meet some of you guys up in MN some time, or maybe a couple in Michigan while I'm there.

My Cougar started missing really bad under load on the way home Friday. It's fine until the car warms up and if you stay out of the gas. I'm pretty sure it's the fuel pump, which is disappointing because I just put that one in there. It was a used stock return pump from someone on NECO. Usually the return pumps don't have any issues.

That sucks!

My return fuel pump in the coug is still kickin' at 168k but the sending unit is wonky. One minute I have a full tank, next minute I have 25 miles til E. Almost worth replacing just for that.

wow... it was down for a while. then again mnfocus was down as well.
update on my red contour.
he brought me the title and he accidentally ripped it in half... so I'm still waiting. then again, I did see it in person, which made me a tad bit happy. When i get the title the thing is just going to sell it. I am so sick of dealing with the car...

We'll new pump went in last night ($30 from junk yard) and it's still doing it. CEL flashes when it does it so it's missing pretty bad but no constant CEL to verify what cylinders. I have an extra coil pack so that will get swapped in next. Wires are fairly new so I don't think it's them but I have extras so I'll check those after the coil. It only seems to do it when the car is warmed up after about 5-10 mins of driving. I'm still glad I swapped the pump though as I had to seal that floor around the pump better. Exhaust was getting into the cabin because the duct tape used to cover the enlarged hole wasn't holding any more.

Could it be the fuel rail pressure sensor? I've heard of similar issues with the late model escapes. It was related to build up in the fuel rail and the pressure sensor. Have you changed your fuel filter lately? Just another thing to check.

I was thinking about swapping the filter. I might as well since they are so cheap. I have changed it once or twice before and the car only has about 60k total on it. It is a return fuel system so it doesn't have a sensor just the stock vacuum controlled FPR. The tank looked pretty clean when I pulled the pump.

I could use a set of steelies if anyone has some! With or w/out tires doesn't matter. I just can't pay an arm and a leg for them! Gonna check the one local yard that's left but I'm doubting I'll find anything.. Cougar steels would work wouldn't they? Can't remember if the patterns are the same..

Cougar (99-02) rims would work.

I think you're on the right track with the coil pack. I'd try that before anything else.

Spare coil pack is now installed. I was almost sure that was it because the old coil pack actually had a hole in the #5 plug and a ton of carbon build up. I've never seen that before. The wire looked fine and the coil pack still had normal resistance. The car still misses after it's warmed up though. I'm going to swap in a new fuel filter and check the fuel pressure regulator on the rail tonight after work.. It doesn't seem like one particular cylinder or a small miss.

Yay, I figured it out. My #4 cylinder spark plug hole was completely full of water. My stupid f'ing predator hood has a vent along the front spark plug holes so during the last snow storm it must have dripped in and filled that spark plug hole up. I have no idea why that one had water in it and the rest were fine. The boot seemed to be on tight like the rest. Anyway I blew the water out of there and checked all the plugs and now it runs fine. I taped up that one vent with some metal tape for now. lol

I did put a new fuel filter in there as well. The old one was rusted to •••• but wasn't clogged up.
