Another CEG'r doing a MPV 3.0 swap

well the 3L's in and all tucked in... the MPV UIM isnt gonna fit but im working on that. as for the UIM fitting in general. it's super super tight. the vac lines on the back of the UIM touch the firewall do i can see them not lasting long. with that said most likely i'll go with a mondeo 3L uim as soon as i can find one @ 200 or less shipped.

yep still oin at those dang shift cables

Well everything in and connected..... No fuel .. I don't hear the fuel pump priming I get nothing to the NPG fuel block nor the fuel rail? Checked all my fuses he fuel cut off switch and engine bay connections.. Ayone have similar issues when doing a swap or build

Oh by the way. With a lil modification to the hood latch the Mazda UIM just hits the hood.. Not to bad though. Lines are about 1/8th to 1/4 of an inch off but eventually I'll get a cowl hood :)

After further reading it's my PCM Mod fues... And this is my computer correct? This sucks.. I'm guessing I have a short in the wires.. Chichester I checked and taped all the exposed / cracked wires on the harness ....

If ur harness had open ends, putting tape won't help. They are probably cracked under the tape and plastic covering. Ur best bet is to get a harness from the classifieds. I had a similar problem, with that fuse shorting, when i would crank it, and it was the Vehicle Speed Senor's (VSS) wires that were touching. I think that is the ignition fuse.

i thought it was blowing when i crank it but i tested a few other fuses and it's actually blowing as soon as the key is turned (to provide power) not when the started in engaged. as for the looking for a harness on here i have a few 98 contour V6 midels in the scrap yard would their harnesses work ? or does it have to be an SVT harness?

I think it depends which harness. I used a cougar injector harness for my 1998 contour svt. U might need the harness for the fuse box. Some of them have PATS.

Has to be an SVT harness... unless you can find a Contour with a manual transmission. If your not having luck, svttour can modify a automatic harness to work with your manual transmission.

Gotcha ... i pm'd a guy on here that has one FS so i'll try that ... should i try and salvage my old harness by repairing / rebuilding it or just remove and replace it ?

Replace it and fix yours on the side.

Yeah that's a good idea I am looking for one for 100 or less shipped if not I'll have to see how my weekend is because I bartend on weekends so maybe I'll make enough this weekend to justify the extra for the additional harness.

The shift cables can be a pain. The collars are spring loaded. You twist them and they open up so the cable will fall into place. You could try unbolting the bracket and putting the cables on the bracket first and then bolting it back down.

If you need a Taurus or Sable plastic 04-05 intake let me know. You pay shipping plus $25 and I'll ship one out to you.

Check the wiring under the fuse box to make sure it isn't all falling apart as well. If it is you have a lot more work.

Well I tested the harness from the body to the other parts of the harness and it's shot.. As for the uim it fits so I don't think I'll need one .. But I'm going to replace the older wiring harness it's good on the top half it's the main one that plugs into the body on the passenger side that's shot! And when I mean shot I don't realize how it worked with my 2.5 ??? So I'm posting an ad in the classifieds now to see if I can get one that's in good shape.

I remember wrestling with the shift cables too, the second time I had to reconnect them I was able to get better access through the driver side wheel well and from directly underneath. I used a small pry bar to help push them into place, if you can get them lined up to the bracket this way seemed to work pretty well. I was not looking forward to reconnecting them but it turned out to be way easier than I remember it being the first time. I'm probably a little late on this, but thought I would mention it.

I haven't worked on it yet since I haven't gotten the newer harness for it yet. Thanks for the advice everyone those shift cables are a pita!

ok guys the box has arrived from UPS let me go out to the shop and install this harness and i'll let you guys know soon how this goes.. lets hope she starts smoothly !!!

Its 60MM its from my engine. Hope that SOB starts for you!

Well I haven't gotten it start because of the crazy weather

And my car is outside.. But I did get most of the harness on and it looks 1000000 times better than mine! My son graduates pre K tomorrow so I might work on it after that but well see... I'll keep you posted.. And btw Adam, was it you who sold me the throttle body? I don't remember lol... I've gotten tons of stuff from ceg'rs lately I can't keep track! Anyway on a positive note I plugged the harness in and turned the key and the PCM mod fues didn't blow so with that said it's a step in the right direction!!!
