Genesis Coupe. I <3 you

i still wish they had the v8 in the coupe as was originally being talked about way back when.

the outside looks nice, the interior seems to look better than normal hyundai quality.

what's the specs for the engine's available? the v6 is NA 300hp right? and the 4 banger?

It's just the gullibility of the tuner crowd. They have been starved so long, making do with front-drive cars, that now as soon as some Korean manufacturer is crazy enough to buck the trend (and add a TURBO :rolleyes: ), they are beating a path to their door.

I think the car's gong to be a huge disappointment. They are saying "Mustang-killer". When it's been around for 45 years, then maybe it could be. Heck, when it's been around for 10 years, maybe I'll cave an say I was wrong. But it won't be. It's a brand new platform from an as-yet shaky manufacturer, pointed squarely at a niche market. People really need to not get their panties in a bunch just yet. It's different. Nothing more.

I'd a thousand times rather have a Z-car than this questionable ... thing.

Get your Z car and I'll get a Hyundai and with the $ I saved I'll reinvest in mods, then we'll see whos is better.


edit: I just hope these don't turn out like hondas/srt4s where every spoiled little :censored::censored::censored::censored::censored: has one.

Some pretty sick lookin rides
 
I did a quick chop of the headlights with paint to get rid of the dip. Maybe someone will make these in fiberglass? Looks wayyyyyy better IMO. I noticed the white car in the background has this done.

 
I'm fairly certain I'll be trading up my Tiburon for the Genesis in a few years. It's not like I'm gonna have kids or, gasp, a wife by that time anyway. :)

In the looks dept. I'd take the SVT over the Hyundai

In the go dept my Mustang would eat this cars breakfast and it would also look good doing it :laugh:
 
Nope. Still a Hyundai. Which is almost up to the level of just being a Honda. Still not something I'd drive.

I think that black one is what Batman would look like if he had Down's syndrome.
 
I want the gray camo one in the background of the first picture.

I don't mind Hyundai, but their logo sucks. Their logo looks like it should be for a brand of toilet paper. It should be a ninja star or something, then it would get mad respect.

Reality points are true, BUT:
-350Z and 370Z are a bunch out there, modded and they are nice, quick and what not.
-well, with the honda/srt4, yes you are right due to the fact that it is going to be with a warranty that every parent will force into when it comes to buying: "son, it will have a warranty that will be good for quite some time, so let's get this for you (and all the :censored::censored::censored::censored:ups you will do to it...)", which means, a lot of kids will have one.

And last:
this car does look like a Z at some points, SO, it will be cheaper for a lot of people to get it compared to the real Z and heck, it comes with two engine platforms from the factory, plenty to do to it...

I'd get it for the looks, i am actually liking it a lot, not the power, it is just a car.
 
It's sad, if this car had any other badge every person on this forum would be ruining their underpants. I happen to like the car, I think it's an incredible deal and I hope it sells well.

Will it destroy mustang sales? Probably not, even if it does destroy the mustang around a road course, it doesn't have a V8 and MUSTANGS ARE GOOD OLE 'MERICAN CARS APPLEPIEBASEBALLCOWBOYS.

Good opinions, but mine are biased by the latest in design and functionality as part of my career as a web and interactive designer. Even if Genesis fails it was a strong idea and it definitely looks good enough to try.
 
Beautiful! :shocked: They really did a nice job on the full design of the car. Nice looking coupe.

they have a V8 model coming out in about a year which is going to be producing somewhere around 400 horses.

I guess it really doesnt share much, unless you consider its based on the same platform as its big brother which I must say is a very smart move.

The "bad press" Hyundai had died out years ago as Hyundai/Kia became real players in the market and started moving enough cars to make the other manufacturers worry. You probably thought the Tiburon would have a short run as well since it was just a bad Eclipse ripoff, right?

Thats still a rumor though. There is no way the v8 will cram into that engine bay (unless a tuner does it).
