Brian, can you post the original photos?
No offense, but HDR just doesn't seem to be your strong suit.

I know, I need to work on them. I just used the default setting in the program.

problem is the orginal the side of the car is completely dark and the background is just to bright. HDR was the only way to balance it out. I can email one at full size to you if you want to look at it that way as the smaller image just doesn't look anywhere as good. Just let me know your email.

I'll post an original tonight.

BrApple, your car is one of my favorite on the site. I love that color.

Meanwhile I am looking for an angle on my car that has enough good paint on it.

Do you have a manual exposure setting on the camera? A tripod and a longer exposure will make a huge difference. Much better than HDR in daylight, IMO. HDR is only really useful at night when there are "bursts" of color with a dark contrast in the sky/background.

TBH, I like the pictures of the car w/out the retouching better, even with the darkness.

the camera has a manual EV setting which I can get -2 to +2. I don't believe I can set the exposure. Photos where taken with a tripod, but for some reason when I reduced the size with the windows power tool for image resizing they got alittle blurry.

if you anyone would like to see the full size 7mp image I can email them. or does photobucket or the like allow for full sized uploaded images?

Photobucket doesn't care about the dimensions of the images.

I'd play around with the camera settings more. It may give you what you're looking for w/out having to retouch.

In general, better lighting will help a lot. Taking a picture in a place where car is partly in the shadow of a tree or building isn't a good idea, uniform lighting will help tremendously.

good to know. the originals where taken on auto setting of the camera. the three I took for HDR I used my own settings based on what I read online about it.

i do have hubcaps on now, but i have to wait till i get the damage fixed before i can get pics. not like i'll make calendar cuz of all the hate you guys have for the car, rims, hubcaps, or steelies.
