My boost build thread

the oil filter is mounted, what it is mounted to is painted black so you cant see it, and its a funny angle

i know the engine bay is a bit cluttered, im working on it though. looking at it again, i think i need to have the IAC coming off of the outlet pipe instead of where i have it now, thats an easy fix that will clean it up a bit. i need to get the car up and running so i can break in the clutch and get it tuned before the season starts, which is just under a month. what would you suggest i do to clean it up then?

*sigh* got the correct belt today, installed it no problem. turn the key and listen for the fuel pump. need to put some gas in it, but it primes. start car. it runs for a couple rotations, ting ting. F***. the ac bypass pulley broke, again, in the same spot. so i pulled the pieces off, threw them into a box and im goign to see what NAPA is going to do about it. i have a ac compressor that im just going to use instead, just need to get the bolts for it. 100mm long might be hard to find

could you not just run a shorter belt like this?

i probably could, but then id have to but a third belt, and for the price of a couple bolts ill use what i have. and trying to measure a belt with the motor in the car is a PITA

you could take the belt back and tell them its the wrong size, maybe they would exchange it for whatever size you need. I know i have done this before with my local store.

to measure it seems like it would be fairly simple to do with the old belt thats broken maybe.

got the new belt from amazon. same amount of time but $20 cheaper. ill see what comes up tomorrow

on the plus side, the little bit the motor was running the vac/boost gauge worked

oh. oh well, it was just an idea. you can always change the setup later if you need/want.

im sure at this point you cant wait to get the car fully running.

so that i can drive it yes, but also so that i can get it moved around in the garage so i can bring the bullitt home and drive it too

The supercharger requires a decent amount of belt tension so that AC delete setup may not be designed to hold the extra load. I would have though it would fair better than that though.

PM me if you need a better bracket made from steel. I can have it to you quick. Mail me your broken stuff and I will make you a new bracket for $25

thanks for the offer joe, but i had a ac compressor sitting around so i put that on. ill reroute the belt to delete it sometime this summer. it runs now, needs some fuel and to replumb the IAC line. doing that tomorrow.

is the walbro supposed to sound like a jet engine taking off when it primes the line?

Yes. they are very loud. I only ever noticed it when it would prime before i started the engine. once the engine was started it drowned out the fuel pump.

Yea they are notorious for being loud.

and with no interior i will hear it all the time. it really freaked me out the first time it primed

is it just a bare A/C compressor? Wont that pose a problem with no lubrication in it?

had a bit of a snag today. took the car out for its first drive and it doesnt want to idle b/c of the larger injectors. i figured that would happen. dunno cause of the little amount of gas in it (even adding a couple gallons) the car stalled and wouldnt start. went and got the wifes escape and pulled it home. added some more gas and got it started up again. ran for a bit and it would almost idle. shut it down and found an oil leak under the car. traced it to the oil feed line for the SC. tightened it a bit and the fitting turned off the end of the line.

one good thing about the short drive is i let the clutch out a bit quick while trying to keep it running, and dear lord did it launch

it shold idle on the larger injectors. mine did when i tried breifly. however you do not want to do that. get that tune loaded and then try driving it.

got the line fixed today. ordered some colder plugs

i dont have any way of loading a tune. all my tuning has been on a dyno
