Used car finds

... do you prefer the original, more boxy nose, or the later, more organic nose with the suspended Ford oval in the grille?

And a question you might get from anyone -- have you driven one?
the latter of course. It even had stock clear corners. Though I'm partial to the amber taillights on the former.

No I have never driven one. I'd love to see how slow that feels like though. With the exception of my friend's Zetec Contour I once drove 0.25 miles around a city block (which doesn't really count), I have never driven a gas-powered vehicle with less than 165hp. Not even a riding lawnmower.

All my cars that I dove had less that 165 HP up until the tours.

I'm sorry, dude, but the Aspire looks like the bratty 3-way spawn of a pre-98 Contour, a jelly bean, and Bea Arthur:shrug:

It isn't all that slow, at least around town. It starts to run out of suds (and air) once you get into fourth and fifth gears, especially where hills are concerned. Then, downshifting becomes de rigueur.

My first car had 88 horsepower. Doesn't sound like much, but it made 132 lb-ft. of torque at 2600 RPM, and the tall gearing kept the car on the boil -- you found the powerband easily with each shift. 0-60 was probably in the vicinity of 12 seconds. It was faster than the Aspire. Felt better too, as the quality of materials and assembly was superior and the ride nicer.

Watch your mouth, mister! There's a new sheriff in town!

Most of my choices are more dream-choices than anything but they sure rile me up down there

BMW - 850CSi
Toyota - Supra (MKIII or MKIV)
Nissan - 300zx
Mitsu -3000gt vr-4
Infiniti- M45 (03-05)
Also the occasional F-150/Tundra/Tacoma with a bit of a lift and big tires.

^ Gets me every time:laugh:^

But seriously, I want to know what the legend himself drove for his first car:confused:

1987 Ford Taurus MT-5 wagon. Ford's pushrod, Falcon-derived 2.5 HSC (High Swirl Combustion) hooked up to a 5-speed manual.

I modified a few things about it. It had Cooper Cobra white letter tires, a Covercraft bra, foglights mounted under the bumper, two seven inch wide black racing stripes set seven inches apart running the length of the entire car, a CB radio with a roof-mounted whip antenna, and a K&N panel filter which netted me an extra 2-3 mpg.

Car was great to me. I once logged 32.6 miles to the gallon, too.

Nothin says fun like driving over shopping carts...

dang jared! you are finding some sweet rides!!!
i too would have a 30,000 sq-ft building filled with cars if i hit the lottery.

it would be filled with a lot of heavy iron, old hearses, flower cars, lincolns, fords, shoebox chevys, 50's and 60' statin wagons, and some random newer stuff.

when i first met Jess, her father owned a 1973 Rolls, talk about the cats pajamas!

This is a typical Crown Victoria with the Police Interceptor package. This vehicle has been a patrol vehicle throughout its life and at one time it was fully equipped with police patrol paraphernalia. All police equipment has been removed. This vehicle drives great, regular (every 3000 miles) oil changes, tire rotation and maintance schedule.
MILAGE IS 100,000

Dude these are really sweet cars you're finding. It really hurts to look at this thread as I want to buy them.

I only have one question though.

Don't you ever have to work?

I mean you must spend 3/4 of your day surfing for deals.

All the contact information is there, amigo. You just need to pick up the phone and swing by the bank.

Yes, I have to work. But I spend most of my day on the phone, so if they're talking, I can look for rigs to buy. Or just look at.
