yup

Nothing like pulling a transmission because the shift tower bolt sheared and it was stuck in gear...

Thought I would find an exploded clutch, looks fine. Luckily I've got another TOB, but the flywheel insert and PP are trashed too... Transmission going to get a rebuild by my buddy- upgraded forks too. Should be back with a vengeance...

Where can I get the shift forks and rebuild parts?

Car would be slower with the Zetec FD anyway, unless you're making 300+ hp it would be dumb. Maybe net you a couple more MPG if that's your thing.

I had it. Personally, I liked it more than the stock gears. That and it did help the mpg....and you don't notice that it is "slower". I still managed to snap an axle. :p

How would you notice? You went from a stock 2.5L car to a 3L car that had the gears already in it. You would need to drive the exact car with nothing else changed but the gears to notice it being slower.

Maybe you liked it because it moved the shifts further apart, or because you could shift less often, but that doesn't make them better from a performance standpoint.

My 2.5 had mufflers on it........

How many times have you had that trans out now? It is possible to fix that issue without pulling the trans. You can pull the tower and fish the bolt head out and swap in a new tower. I've had to fix that issue on a few cars now. Usually I go with the upgraded shift tower which isn't prone to this issue.

Wait a minute, so I basically have a box full of HORSEPOWERS in my garage?? SCT, BAT Inc., K&N, and some I can't remember, why are they not on my car?

Yes.

While you're out there looking, make sure to check your car's blinker fluid! Don't want to run out of that stuff at the wrong time!

^ ;)

Always finding stuff .

Well if things keep going the way they are as of today, I might have to buy a beater SVT!

Edit: Sending you a PM to find out if you can "find" something for me.

Aligned the Cougar for the first time last night. I had time and I didn't want to drop $100 on something I could figure out. I did it using two jack stands and some string. Set the front string about 100mm out from the center of the front wheel. Then the rear is adjusted based on track width distance plus the 100mm so about 107.6mm for the Cougar ((front track - rear track)/2 + 100mm). Then using a dial caliper I was able to adjust the tie rods to get each front tire dead on. The front left tire was the worst. Front edge of the rim was about 94mm from the string and the rear was 86mm from the string. So it was 8mm toed in on that wheel. The hardest part was breaking the tie rod jam nuts loose. I had to use MAP gas and even then I had to be careful not to strip the nuts. The other front and the rear two wheels were all within 3mm.

I followed this site after reading through a few different ones: Do It Yourself Alignment Tips

Now I have more money for beer! Woohoo!

Yea that's true, but they say your really supposed to have your car aligned about 1-2 times a year. I just bought the lifetime alignment from Tires Plus for $120. I think I've had my Contour in their at least 10 times over the years. Pretty much paid for itself. When I'm finished building the car it will be going back in again too.
