How many times have you had that trans out now? It is possible to fix that issue without pulling the trans. You can pull the tower and fish the bolt head out and swap in a new tower. I've had to fix that issue on a few cars now. Usually I go with the upgraded shift tower which isn't prone to this issue.

I know how to do that, I've done that once on my car and on more than 4 other cars... This was fine, it broke in neutral but my buddy screwed with it until he got it stuck in first gear - we spent about three hours on the shift tower but couldn't get it out of first gear. The transmission is out, new stage 3 6 puck clutch, new flywheel insert, new speed sensor, all new synchros and blocker rings, upgraded 1-2 shift fork, new struts and springs up front, and all sorts of other love. I'm going to put it together how I want to, so its on its on time table now, but I want my garage free.

What shift tower do you speak of that goes in somewhat cheaply? I'm going to leave the bolt out and just weld it solid with my 220 mig....

wow really? I couldn't get any hits on it, so I decided to just go through and fix all the issues and swap it to a 5spd. be sure to check out my build thread in the new members forum!

Well, the fire car will be living in maple grove as of next week. Tradeing it for a 2000 navigatoor.

I loved my navigator. Hated the gas mileage though. The auto 4wd was a nice feature since most trucks seem to only have 2wd and then 4 high or low. I think the 2000's were the first full year for the DOHC engine putting out 300 hp. Mine was the SOHC at only about 260. Very comfortable to drive and LOVED the extra space. The Pilot, while a little smaller can still seat 8 and gets about 5 more mpg highway.

The focus tower was the upgraded tower. It's not cheap though from what I remember. You had to get the focus cable ends also. It's all in the trans upgrade spread sheet in the trans section. It might be discontinued like everything else though...

I know a guy with the shift tower and complete cables... this guy

Going fishing, hope my propane doesn't freeze.

I think we might be doing that on saturday as well. :) Do I want crappies or northerns?

I was thinking this might be a decent one to pick up. The temp gauge being maxed makes me worry though..

Also it's quite clearly NOT an LX.

Yikes! I wouldn't touch that with a 20 foot pole! If you can afford it, look at this little bad ride. I have been trying to convince the wife to let me get it but she says no stick shifts (in case I ever need to take the honda she won't be stranded)

Forgot to ask, why is that?

Autotragic with 150K miles for $2K. You can get a SVT with lower miles for that price (I know I did. I paid $2K for my red one with 130K. I didn't have an issue with it while I owned it). I personally don't trust Ford vehicles from the early 2000's with an automatic....they seemed especially weak.
