How many times have you had that trans out now? It is possible to fix that issue without pulling the trans. You can pull the tower and fish the bolt head out and swap in a new tower. I've had to fix that issue on a few cars now. Usually I go with the upgraded shift tower which isn't prone to this issue.
I'd rock that one.Clayton, I say just get this one!

Do it! I love my pre-98 mystique!
Well, the fire car will be living in maple grove as of next week. Tradeing it for a 2000 navigatoor.
I know how to do that, I've done that once on my car and on more than 4 other cars... This was fine, it broke in neutral but my buddy screwed with it until he got it stuck in first gear - we spent about three hours on the shift tower but couldn't get it out of first gear. The transmission is out, new stage 3 6 puck clutch, new flywheel insert, new speed sensor, all new synchros and blocker rings, upgraded 1-2 shift fork, new struts and springs up front, and all sorts of other love. I'm going to put it together how I want to, so its on its on time table now, but I want my garage free.
What shift tower do you speak of that goes in somewhat cheaply? I'm going to leave the bolt out and just weld it solid with my 220 mig....
The focus tower was the upgraded tower. It's not cheap though from what I remember. You had to get the focus cable ends also. It's all in the trans upgrade spread sheet in the trans section. It might be discontinued like everything else though...
Going fishing, hope my propane doesn't freeze. :laugh:Looks like it will be a bit brisk this weekend. Highs of -11 and -10 on Monday and Tuesday. Yikes!

I was thinking this might be a decent one to pick up. The temp gauge being maxed makes me worry though..
Also it's quite clearly NOT an LX.
...Yikes! I wouldn't touch that with a 20 foot pole! ..
Forgot to ask, why is that?
