yup

It's the lower end of the GT model. So it's cloth, 2.5, and no turbos. I don't need turbos anyways. This is the most powerful four cylinder I've ever owned.

Trust me, turbo's can cause nothing but problems. I test drove an 05 GT limited and the turbos blew out on me during the test drive. My WRX was a blast to drive, but it all the other little things you have to think of. Don't cook the oil in the turbos, have to keep them cool etc. They are just another thing to maintain and go wrong....and the premium gas.

I don't think they put turbos in the GT's until like 04, give or take. I think they were all NA up until that point. I did really like that 2.5 in it though! I kind of wish I could sell the fusion and get Subaru.....They are just fun to drive.

Yeah I don't need turbos. I just need a decent/fun car that's going to last me quite a while, gets decent mileage, and gets around well.

From the reading I did, they did put turbos in the higher end GTs. It was actually a twin turbo setup from what I read. I would assume one turbo for each side is why they did two.

Everything I am reading, it is showing the 05+ Legacy GT's with the turbo set up. Unless there was a release in Japan. The late 90's to 04 GT's had the 2.5L non turbo

Oh you're right. I went back over what I had read before and realized I misread. Either way I'm not sad about not having a turbo. If the engine were smaller then maybe I would want one, but this is a great engine that I'm not worried about power in. I won't be running track or quarter miles in it anyways. I am definitely loving her so far though.

The only issue I ever really cared about, was the lack of space to get at one or two of the spark plugs. I think like windshield washer tank is in the way. Other than that, easy to work on. I can't believe it is in that good of shape. Normally they flake and rust behind the rear wheel wells.

Yeah she's a beauty. I want to be out driving all the time! Ha ha. I think the thing I like most is that I feel like I'm driving a substantial car and not a tin can like most cars feel like. At this point I'd like to get some fitted dish type floor mats to keep water and salt from running onto the cloth mats and carpeting. Other than that I'd also like to get some over sized mud flaps. I think the snow tires are a bit wider than factory size and so they throw a lot up onto the body. I've also kicked around the idea of getting a set of projector headlights for it. We'll see how that goes I guess.

Well my nervousness/worrying came to an end today. I finally got it into the shop at school and onto a lift. I was nervous because I wasn't really able to look at the underside much before I bought it. Upon inspection today, the underside is pretty much like the body. There's very little wrong with it.

The older couple that owned it up until last year had it undercoated and rustproofed originally. It definitely shows and was money well spent. My only gripe was seeing how low the manifolds hang, and how small the factory exhaust is. I will likely look into headers and a bigger exhaust at some point in the near future.

Yeah, the manifolds hand way down and it just looks odd when you are under the car...or even driving behind one. It seems like they would hit the ground, but they don't. I don't know if I would bother with the exhaust or not. Have to take a look at to how much in gains you would get....and how much louder it would be.

My Cougar started acting up lately. About a month ago it wouldn't start. I whacked the top of the fuel pump with my hand and it started right up... It's been perfect until two days ago. Now it won't idle for the first few seconds on cold start unless I give it gas. No CELs. When I restart it the car it will idle but it's a bit rough for the first few seconds. I do have a header leak that is getting worse (crack in header.... :(). I have to add a flex pipe and get that header welded but it's been a little too cold to work on it. Thoughts? I wonder if I should order another return pump or pop the IAC off (less than a year old) and clean it out. The engine is in really good shape since I swapped a low mile 3L in last year and it's been running great since.

When you start hitting things and the car and it starts to work, I think that would be the place to start. LOL! I know when the fuel pump on my 3.0L went out, it went fine for a block and just died. But then with my brothers fuel pump in his Vision, it would take forever for it to start but once it started it ran fine.

I still have that pump somewhere that you sold me a while back. I tried swapping it in my car and the fuel gauge still acted wonky so I swapped back to my original one.

Don't you have a spare IAC you could try? Do you have a fuel gauge? You could probably try scanning anyways to see if there is a trouble code stored.

The pump won't affect the gauge just the float/resistor. You can swap those around if one works and one doesn't.

I do have other IAC's to try. Seems odd it started a few days ago and it was perfect up until then. I'll get out there and freeze until I figure it out.

As far as bumping the pump to get it to work. I'm pretty sure it was the connector. I may put dielectric grease in it.

I say swap the pump. Is a return cougar pump assy the same as the return contour assy?

I know that, I just swapped the whole assembly, so essentially I have two working pumps and two bad fuel sending units.

IAC sounds the easiest to try. Why are you freezing? Don't you have a garage?

I do... and it is a tuck under garage so it's warmer than most. Usually it's above freezing. I never grabbed my propane heater out of my extra garage and my Jag is in there keeping me from gabbing it. I can't back that out or it will never get back in with those f'ing summer tires (useless on any amount of snow or cold surface).

I'll figure it out. lol

Lazy move really.... I did swap out a wheel bearing the other day on a G6 but I got $100 for it so that was a little more motivation. :) Plus, I was able to sit next to a small electric heater that helped somewhat. This cold weather sucks!
