I am buying mirko splitter mold

I don't plan on making any money and there is no way he can get better pricing than me trust me  Just throwing it out there. Personally I wouldn't want my splitter held on by 1/4 turn fasteners.

Also interested in one of the splitters depending on when the down payment is needed...damn christmas.

Many aircraft and race car panels are held on by Dzus and other versions of 1/4 turn fasteners. If installed correctly, there is no reason they wouldn't perform very well.

1/4 turn fasteners are great. That's all I see on high performance vehicles. They don't just turn and that's it. Look at the "screw" part of the assembly and notice it's grove that goes towards the head of the "screw"
That's where the cross bar LOCKS into the "screw"

They are VERY secure!

IF installed properly!

and there's the rub...

For the record - when my Mirko was utterly destroyed, the only pieces left on the car were the DZUS and surrounding areas. I plan to use them again.

No, I do that for its slimming effect  .

I still have the thing, so if you need it for some part of this process let me know. Otherwise it's for sale locally  .

I plan on using them too.... Thanks. Im upset because I thought in logic that it was best for me to hop on the hard to get parts first when they come up. Then, it would be a quick and easy call for the Mirko. Now I have everything BUT the Mirko, which is now the hardest to get. DOH! For a planner like me, it was devastating.

Are you a person that will make a plan to make plans. You're like ok lets see today I need to buy a bunch of parts oh and plan when i'll sit down and plan on buying this and that. :) lol

bada$$

I never said they were going to break people, reading comprehension... I simply think they are huge ugly and really expensive.

i hear that.

If I had the $$ I wouldn't plan anything. I'd just buy buy buy

i'd also buy someone to make my plans, if i ever had to make some.

I am taking contributions for my plan maker if any one wants to donate?

got the mold today thanks to Doc!

taking it in first thing in the morning along with a splitter AND a csvt bumper for them to assess. hopefully we'll get some feedback real soon, probably within a day or so.

i dont really wanna read 250 posts...seems like you have the mold svt4stv? are you going to be making and distributing from now on?

It was a pleasure meeting Steve, he's a motivated individual!
the mold's in good hands.

I see big things happening!

Can't wait to see what happens.

i took the mold, a csvt front bumper and a splitter to the company for them to check out.

let me tell you, this place was IMPRESSIVE! HUGE building! a few thousand bumpers/hoods/lips/etc in stock for various vehicles. theyre doing so much business they plan to move to a bigger building soon. they have very nice offices for their various deparments. they even have an office that's set up as a pro photo studio with a photographer on staff. the guy i was dealing with took me on a little tour and showed me some of their products.

they make duraflex, polyurethane and carbon fiber.

duraflex, what would be the main choice here, is a mix of plastic and fiberglass. its stiff like fiberglass but FAR more forgiving. you can grab a part of a spoiler and force it to bend. if bent too much, it will break. but its got a really good amount of forgiveness in it.

polyurethane is really expensive and would require a new mold to be made. it cant be made with the splitter mold we have on hand. AND, he showed me a poly. bumper. he was able to fold it in half like he was going to put it in an envelope lol. obviously not goo for something that's going to see a lot of downforce.

carbon fiber. looked like good quality stuff. not flexible like duraflex and will break, though the stresspoint is much higher than fiberglass. they should be able to make them from the mold we have.

i discussed with them about possibly having the splitter wrap around the bumper and mounting from the rear, instead of the sides like it does now. they didnt seem to care for that too much and suggested wrapping it around the back. IF we go that route, there are two ways to get there. they can use the current mold and guesstimate the wrap-around part, with NO guarantee on fitment. OR, they can make a new mold with the wrap around part IN the design with fitment guaranteed. personaly, im not sure its worth having a new mold made just for that. it would cost more money which would be reflected in the price. everyone seems to be happy with the way they are now

what do you guys think?

I say no wrap Steve, I believe that increase cost will decrease sale down the road. The design now seems to work with one hole on each side. Get them back on the market and If the new material is amazing and sales increase then you can reconsider. My thoughts.
