Pwntbywombat 3L Build Thread

Just wondering. I got my mega fuse in, finished the harnesses, and installed the new ignition switch. Picking up a fresh set of plugs on my way home from work. I'll find out today if it wants to work. But yeah, so does it fit? Lol
 
if its the 6spd one then no. otherwise it should be like the euro spec BAT was selling that iirc already had the zetec final drive installed.
 
What was the final drive on the zetec? Ours is 4.01:1 iirc? And what's makes the six speed not fit? Can't be bellhousing cause the st220 is just a regular 3L duratec right? Input shaft? Axle length?
 
lol. weren't you the one who couldnt put a transmission on without bustin the bell housing anyways? why dont you find what your good at, make some money, and pay someone else to build you a car. lolz

I doubt any one on here knows why. and I doubt if they have tried installing one (Maybe Terry Haines) but here are a few guesses the 6 speed st220 is AWD? the shifter cables hook up differently? the input splines on the transmission are different. the starter flywheel orientation is different. use of a different slave cylinder.... different axles i.e. ours wont work... none of these are facts just guesses.... but yeah stick to getting your car working first then worry about exspensive mods.

I think that was a cool idea it seems on here that too many people just shoot things down with out explaining why it won't work and I have a feeling they don't know and haven't tried but just heard it won't work....

IIRC it will "fit", but it requires an extensive amount of modification. Mashing in the right side bulkhead for example. I know someone was working on it a few years ago.
 
and the 6 spd is suppose to be weaker then the mtx75 anyway iirc.


thats what I was going to say, but you beat me to it....

if I had funds, I'd be happy with zetec final drive and a close ratio fifth gear (ours is an "overdrive" and is pretty much useless)

fyi, I believe the euro final drive is actually different than the zetec final, and both engines had the same final drive in europe, but dont quote me on that.
 
by "immobilizer" do you mean the emergency fuel cut off switch, or the pats system?

also, I wonder which repair you made actually got it to turn over...
