Pwntbywombat 3L Build Thread

Do you have a code scanner? I had a similar issue with my car. It thought i was trying to steal it.

It ended up being my a-piller gauges tapped into into the electrical, so if you have anything aftermarket weird wiring try ditching it.

i did that, it came with a viper alarm that was a piece from the get go, i ripped it out. and still nothing. i have access to a generic obd2 reader, would that work?

the viper alarm probably had a starter interrupt when you removed I assume you hooked the wires up.... if not that could be your problem but id does sound like a PATS issue since the light is flashing like that. man I had problem with pats in my 99 windstar accidentaly stuck my contour key (they are on the same ring) and wouldn't you know it turned all the way but the starter wouldn't work and the pats light went crazy.... I realized my error and I tried the correct key and it still wouldn't start luckily I was able to just pull the key out and maybe lock the car and try again and it started... I was worried as the whole family was in the car and we'd stopped for gas....

read the codes if you can if it is a pats issue you should get a code.. if you don't have a second key you may need to either have the dealer make you a new one or reprogram the computer....... also take a look at the wiring for the pats sensor around key cylinder and make sure it isn't cut somewhere.... car alarms are well know to screw up car wirring royally...

good luck

Holy crap this saga is still going on! It's been almost a year.

I realize you may have a PATS issue, but one other thing you may want to look at too since your wiring was fubar'd is to check your cam and crank sensor wire connections. If those wires are shorting your ECM has no idea where it is in the firing order...

i havent had a chance to get access to a scantool :(

Pretty sure you can check them out from just about any auto store for free, they just ask for your license so they know you'll bring it back... at least that's how O'Reillys and Autozone is anyway.

I know at Autozone, you give them a credit card, and they use it as deposit, then thry credit back to your account when you return the tool. I use it often, nice for tools you don't need often.

though a code reader may be one of those tools you use often on a contour 3L unless you like the check engine light on all the time... Walmart sells one for around $50 and another around $100 I find them very handy and you can use it on any 96 and newer car....

Hopefully Santa brings me one this year. Nice to have, plus works on many cars, not just the SVT's. Looking for one that does real time data as well as freeze frame data, w/o breaking bank.
