Pwntbywombat 3L Build Thread

Hey I'm the guy who starts the car in the video lol

From what I was searching around on this site, it was saying theres a TSB for the flywheel/starters. Something about the gears being different sizes and causing the issue in the video, could this be true? I mean his starter is new

If not I was thinking somehow the gears aren't lining and smacking each other vs fitting and spinning.

I will say the viper alarm is back in and working right, but the PATS system seems to be flashing like crazy when we try to start it, so with it 'bypassed' it would atleast try to start the car.

I think once he gets his new tranny in it's going to show what might not be right with the car.

Lol dude that is NOT a flywheel start alignment issue. When the whippers go on like that when you try to start the car it either means A: You got a dea battery or B: you have a loose ground some where or one of the battery terminals isnt tight. Also check all your fuses and the big (megga fuses? } on the fuse box under the hood

The clicking seems kind of loud but the wipers moving around has always happened when I had a low battery.

When I didn't have a ground hooked up for my first startup my dashlights were flickering and my wipers were moving even with no key in the ignition.

even after purchasing a brand new battery the wipers did that (back when i tried to start it just after the swap). the mega fuse is brand new and hooked up. ill look around and see if any other grounds are not attatched.

If you're checking the grounds put a socket on them to doubly check they are tight. Lol you do have the big ground wire going from the tranny to the chassis right?

Lol well that's tour problem if that ground isn't there! That's like the main ground. Really you can take a battery cable from the part store an bolt one end on the tranny anywhere and bolt the other to any part on the body like the fender well side. Just make sure if it's painted where your bolting it to scrap it down to the metal so it's makng a good contact to metal

I can't believe all this work and a damn ground wire screwed you for this long. But HA I said it was a ground wire long ago and you said they were all on.

I know that's not there. Thank you. There is one ground going to the starter; and on the other side, one ground for the main engine harness and another going to the hood coming out of the firewall.

one ground to the starter? what? there should be no grounds going to the starter!!! the large black cable that goes to the starter is the positive batter cable, that goes to the positive terminal on the battery! you should have 2 large grounds on the transmission. one i think goes to the chassis, and one that goes to the negative terminal. where does your negative cable go to from the battery?? i think we need a picture of your setup, sounds all screwed up....

there is 3 connections on the starter, the harness that has the 12v off the battery and the signal wire coming from the fuse box. the wiring diagram that came with the starter said that the third connection on the starter was a ground?

there are three bolts on the starter but only two are used. and with stock wiring they come off together. its the upper 13mm nut and the 10 mm for the solenoid wire.

the main battery ground runs to a bellhousing bolt. there is a smaller ground that runs from the splits in the mtx to the frame.

actually when actuated the other 13mm bolt on the starter solenoid sees +12v too iirc. so by grounding it there you are causing a short which is screwing everything else up.

The point is down worry bout the starter you just need to get that big ground cable on and it will start if its not there like you said. I would bet my pay check on it

it turns over! i grounded the battery to the bellhousing, and the ground wire was connected to the body btw. it turns over, but even after jumping off another running car all i get is jug jug jug jug. and when i take the key out of the ignition, it is still trying to start itself :-/
