Vortech build

It's fully disassembled with all seals, bearings, etc removed. I have not contacted my machinist to clean up the jackshaft and coupling and make the new piece yet but I will be doing that pretty soon. I wanted to get it all torn down before doing too much more. I should have time either later this week or early next week to get the missing block drawn up and CAD and a print sent over to my machinist to see what he thinks.

Kinda hard to see in the pic I put up but near the upper right hand side of the picture there is a hairline crack in one of the fins just a little bit out from the hub. I'll take some better pics of it tonight so you can see what I'm talking about.

I kept looking at the first pic and couldn't see it until you pointed it out. Then it stuck out like a sore thumb!

In case anyone is at the seat of their pants waiting for a update in this thread, i'm waiting on a impeller to be made, hopefully soon. Otherwise waiting on machining from 99mystique to take place. My 3 ft tall 7 feet wide pile of parts sits.

Whats this intercooler stuff your talking about? I have been picking at my brain about how to hook up a FMIC setup with the Vortech, I don't like the water setup at all.

Mostly, it is a ADC turbo intercooler Water/air. I can take pictures if you would like.

Only way i can think of a Air/Air would be very poopy routing, svtfixer might be running one iirc... Your intercooler might not work at all for oval port style UIM even if you wanted too.

Hmm, hopefully my supercharger doesn't need a bunch of repairs other than a simple rebuild. I would rather have no intercooler than the water setup, I think a water setup would just be useless on a road course car. The car came with the pipe to replace the water/air setup, but being oval port I will have to redo that pipe anyway like Jaged did. Do you know what temps these things hang around at without an intercooler? I have a feeling it would get pretty hott under heavy use. Mine has the 3.12 pulley, not sure how much boost that is.

Dunno exact temps, talking with csvtjohnga, he said it's pretty much useless for autox the heatsoak is so bad. Of course his intake was in the engine bay like the car you got. You can do other options, i considered meth injection. Not sure how/if roadcourse rules allow it though or how much you would need to be spraying. Liquid intercoolers are much more efficient then air/air, I wouldn't give up on it so easily. The buckshott setup might just not be ideal.

Not too many options with space so limited. My ••••ing engine bay is going to be some straight Tetris •••• when it's all said and done.

Yea I finally got the SC all removed today and man is it a pain, once you get the radiator out its not too bad though. First thing I would do for heat is put the filter in the fender like an NPG CAI, but I doubt that would be enough, I want to be able to push the thing for a good 20 mins straight. I'll see if svtfixer runs an air/air intercooler, been trying to visualize routing for custom piping but it wouldnt be simple.

Looking forward to the install

Already have a CAI so that's no big deal, and i agree with you. I'd like to push it for longer then that ideally.

Here is a picture of jaged's now my setup, and some other vortech, turbo'ed intercooled cars. I was using them for reference before i made the purchase, maybe it will help...

I archive the internet.

Awesome, that helps a ton. My mind is just going crazy over this right now, I will have to just put the unit in one day and play with some piping.

I thought that Buckshot's I/C kit had a heat exchanger that mounted near the radiator to cool the water on it's way to the intercooler from the reservoir? I would think that would be a pretty good setup. I've never seen one firsthand thought so I can't say for sure.

I tried to get the jackshaft over to my machinist to have it cleaned up but he wasn't available. I have the print ready for the 'block' so I'll get that over to my machinist this week for a quote to have that made.

Yes the Buckshot kit does have the heat exchanger. And thanks svtfixer I now know it is possible to run an air/air.
