Vortech build

ok here's the intake.

The intake is orientated as it fits on the head unit, looking from the driver's seat. It can be rotated, I have it pointing down on my car, as in the picture.

Looking at where it slides on to the head unit, from the face that sits against the head unit on the right, the width is 66mm to the back edge
and 85mm from the bottom of that face to the back edge. At the bottom of the picture, the outside diameter of the intake is 75mm, where your filter pipework fits on.

If you can take that photo and put some arrows or lines on it, I can give you the dimensions that correspond ... I think that would be easiest ..G

is your head unit a V9 G trim ? .... G.
Well, i took out the broken orafice out of the charger and it is identical to the one that i linked (second) So... Maybe?
Could you not buy that piece of intake and just cut a little off where the hose clamp goes to make it closer to the unit?
It's way too big. The silicone cobra head i have now is better option, but not much. Really need a 3.5" Cobra head, or the original piece....
Send it out for Carbinite grip coating.

Spending other people's money like it was mine...

I appreciate the lunacy suggestions, i usually do them. I need to prioritizes my money and it's not at the top.... for example:

I have the jack-shaft pieces, pulleys a pile of bearings, the charger, pulley, and im scratching my head how half of it goes together lol. Maybe i'll take a video, i feel really, really stupid, i'm usually good at taking things apart putting them together.

Ah I know why, i'm missing more pieces. :(

I'm missing the center black piece that connects the pins of the charger, and the jackshaft...

... I went back and looked at the pictures in post #45 and it's hard to work out which driveshaft parts you have.

I can tell you that the piece with the 3 pins on your head unit is on the wrong way round. An orderly photo would help.

Also; the blue tag on your head unit says V9 F. Maybe you should double check the oil squirter thread sizes etc .... G.

p.s. can you confirm please, that the bolt in the input shaft holding that 3 pin drive part, is a normal direction thread and the bolt head is either an AF 13mm or 1/2" thanks.

looked at the video... to help you visualize the setup, try laying all the parts on the floor in a mock up of how it goes on the car.
(like an exploded view)

You definitely shouldn't have those 3 pins sticking out from the head unit shaft .... look at the photo you posted of Blustreak's head unit.
(I think the piece you are holding at 1min 12 sec goes on the head unit shaft)

What model head unit do you have ... read the aluminium tag on the head unit.

Look at the blue oil union .... that broken brass fitting goes through the hole. I think the brass bit has a tiny hole in the side of the smooth bit. ...G.

It's a V-9 F

Those pins are there on bluestreaks picture, there is just another piece that goes over the top of it, and gives a place for the shaft's pins to go in.

ok that's much better.

See those four sided pieces that are on the jack shaft side of the layout .... you should have 1 each of those on the head unit side of that connection too. Plus the bit you said goes over the head unit 3 pin piece.
(the thin black one in the picture goes on the head unit cos the jack shaft uses the thin silver one, that is captured on the jack shaft outer sleeve)

You then have four long bolts that go through from the jack shaft side... through all 4 of the four sided pieces and into the four holes in the head unit.... they hold the whole joint together.

That piece of black hose in the volute is what sends air to the oil union ....G.

Cool thanks a bunch gorman, I got the oil orifice figured out.

So can you confirm, i am missing that joiner that puts those two together? Do you see anything else?

I'm for sure missing something on the pulley side, the end cap, and whatever key's the pulley???? because right now they are both key'ed female...

I get my head unit stripped this week so I should be able to see how the parts go together
(important, can you confirm the thread on the head unit shaft is a normal direction thread.. thanks)

Do you see anything else?]

I haven't seen your idler pulley plate that bolts to the timing case

I haven't seen your modified water crossover pipe either

There is a large steel band (like a jubilee clip) that clamps the volute to the head unit.. can't see it.

You will have to make a key to lock the shaft and pulley together.. basically a rectangular piece of steel... no biggie..... G.

i dont have the vortech specific cross over pipe either. i had to make some pipe up to get it to work.

this is everything that i have minus some bolts

Checking.

don't have it. Saw aircougar ran without one, i know its not ideal, but with the lack of A/C, the belt shouldn't have any grip problems.

No have. See Jaged.

got that, its on my desk in the video.

Really? That's what holds it together, kinda bizarre. Is there anything more to it or just a simple rectangle flat on all sides..?

Looking at your picture Jaged, looking like im missing one of those large black hollow brackets. 2 on the jshaft one on the blower... Ugh.

Checking..
thanks.

the idler plate shouldn't be too hard to make... if you decide you want one (smaller pulley issues)

You could have your stock waterpipe modified ... just needs to miss the jackshaft and fan shroud.

never had that end of the shaft apart.. you can tell what shape the key needs to be from the profile of the shaft keyway. Yes the key locks the shaft and pulley together and the bolt stops it flying off. Might want to check to see if there are flat or thrust washers behind the pulley or securing bolt/washer. ...G.

See gmorrel... priorities. Im missing a good lot.

Guess the hurdles will be:

- Getting that block/ pin connector bracket piece.

- Figure a solution for the pulley keyway/ bolting.

- I could make a idler setup easy, but i think i dont need it... Thoughts?
