Vortech build

Cool!! Thanks a bunch.

I dunno what I'm going to do for the missing pieces on the charger side. I asked prt if he can replicate his coupler.... Not sure what i'll do about the block piece, much more complex. :blackeye:

Bolt confirmed for righty tighty lefty losey. Why did i check?

Holy crap cakes!

- All plumbing ordered. Dei heat sleeves an hoses/ends
- Oil pan/ exhaust gaskets are here.
- Spark plugs are here.
- Boost gauge is here.
- Injectors are at the post office.

So many boxes.

Lets see that leaves,

-Msds header
-Charger rebuild stuff
- blow off valve?
- charger/jackshaft mounting hardware. Oil pan drain fitting.
- need to exchange the oil orafice and order pulley bolt kit..
- intercooler stuff from jaged
- Missing charger pieces, jointer..

If anyone thinks they can help with those missing parts, I'm really concerned that could derail this project :(

Anything else major I'm missing? Or recommendations?

Have you checked any part numbers with vortech to see if any of the parts you're missing are available? I was missing some parts and they were unavailable so I drew them up, made some prints and took them to my local machine shop.

The manual should have a parts list near the beginning of it. If not I have a copy on my computer at home and could send it to you if you need.

I have the pdf, (its not very helpful about how the pieces go together..) last time i contacted vortech, about the inlet tube. They said "that kit has been discontinued for years, a local fab shop could make that for you".

so they dont have spares, of anything.

Yeah... I dunno the best way to handle getting replacements, i contacted a few people, but i barely knowing how it goes together, thats no help. i can only assume those (3) hollow blocks are the same?

The joiner i know is pin thickness deep and smaller then one of those blocks diameter, width. But thats it... Going off pictures at that point.

Yea, that was the same response I got on most parts. They did have a few things I needed though.

I'll try to snap a couple pics of my setup after work today. I've gotta do some work out in the garage anyways. If I remember correctly the 'blocks' you're referring to aren't all the same.

I believe bluestreak on NECO found a replacement 'joiner' that was off a procharger or something like that. Mine was fine so I didn't dig any deeper but you may want to see if he still has a part number for it. By 'joiner' you mean the coupler that goes from the jackshaft to the head unit input correct?

Thanks a bunch!! I cant find any info about blustreaks coupler... That would be awesome id i could find it... Sent him a pm.

Did a quick search. I'm not sure if this would work or fit but it looks nearly identical from the pictures. Need some dimensions to verify it...

EDIT: I remembered reading about it when I was trying to research the Vortech kit when I picked up my car. IIRC it was in a post on NECO and it's the only time I've ever seen it mentioned. I'm not 100% sure it was bluestreak but I think so.

That does look really close, could be it. hard to imagine a eaton charger would have the same setup as this.....

Vortech is pretty good about using standard off-the-shelf parts for wear items. Bearings, seals, etc are all easy to get and aren't anything special. It's possible that it uses a similar setup to the Eaton although I agree it does seem a little odd.

Anyways here are a few pics of my setup...

So it looks like it should have the thin SS block as part of the jackshaft, then one 'large' block, a second 'large' block and then a thin block up against the head unit. IIRC there is one large block on the pulley end of the jackshaft.

A couple of the idler assembly...

(First pic is dead) Thank you for the pics, that should help. Im going to try to skip the idler, hopefully with out any slippage.. As far as the coupler, It would be real nice if it does work! 15$ that would make life easy. Maybe ill email zzp see if my specs match.

Did you see my pic of everything i had laid out? And or video? Still hard to say the differences of those 3 pieces even with a picture...

Im a gambling man. I bought that coupler. Found another inlet pipe i think will work. If it doesn't... AhhzjhzgkjahdakdndNfx

I very much look forward to seeing this complete. Or seeing this in person even? Or helping? Lol.

Yaya you can stop by anytime when i start on it when it gets warm out. Extra pair of hands would be more then welcomed.

You'll regret offering to help with the Vortech. It's not the most fun install... Doable but everything is a very tight fit. Hopefully someone has small hands! :)
