thats pretty sweet. a probe gt engine in a mkII escort would probably be faster than a svt 'tour wouldn't it? whats the curb weight on one of those?

~ 2000 LBS. But the Probe GT was not a KLZE, it was a watered down american version that only made around 160 HP.An EGT in stock trim was around a 16 second quarter mile I think, a probe GT was around 15 and a half I think. A probe swapped Escort would run the same quarter mile as a probe GT. Thats why you go for that KLZE where you are putting ~200 HP under the hood. Either engine LOVED the bolt ons.

As far as faster goes.... Well they are traction limited like the tours, but you could build a sub 13 second escort at around 300 HP. But yeah, traction is a major issue with them just like a contour. You dont really have to change gearing to reach that, and I know at least a couple guys were doing that with stock diffs and driveshafts. Not that I would recommend it. It is a lot easier to do 12s with a quaife, and stock driveshafts is just stupid with that power. I always figure that if a car requires better than a stage 1 clutch, you should upgrade the axles. But thats just me. Anyways, yeah escorts can be fast. I lost my first escort, to an accident, that totalled the car and nearly totalled me. I lost my KLZE swapped one when it was stolen, driven into a ditch full of water, driven out of that ditch minus coolant in the radiator, and then driven another 6 miles in 98 degree weather. When they finally stopped black smoke was coming out of the engine bay so they pushed backwards into a ditch, with the door open. That of course was just adding insult to injury because now the door was bent too. So I decided that an EGT that needed a new engine, core support, door, radiator, fender, front bumper, and probably more just wasnt worth fixing. Its still in the salvage yard in oakes I believe.

did you get to show the little turds some pipe wrench love for ruining your toy?

It was a girl. A 5'2 100 pound girl. I took her to small claims, won book value on the vehicle, and a small consideration for the work I had put into it since the judge recognized some value in a custom vehicle beyond the vehicles actual value (hell of a good judge) then I went home. The sheriff refused to arrest the girl because, well its a long story, and otherwise I havent seen a dime on the car aside from the 50 bucks I got for scrap metal. Which I think is really generous considering the guy who runs the yard is a buddy of mine and gave me free :censored::censored::censored::censored: from the yard all the time. I sued for 4500, was awarded 2400, the book value of the vehicle plus the difference in the cost of a replacement KLZE and a BP1.8.

Better than I got for my turbo escort. 91 escort with a GTX swap, no matter who I spoke with at the insurance company, I could only get highest replacement value for the car if it had been unmodified, $1801. Generally speaking, except among enthusiasts, modifying a car reduces its value.

lemme shorten the story, she had superb oral abilities...

no...

I had at one time been involved with her, and during my divorce she became friends with my ex wife. Through her actions I was arrested on Felony charges. I was later proven to be innocent in court, and during a later civil action I she had even testified to fabricating the story that got me arrested. Two of the Jurors even commented to the city newspaper after my trial that they couldn't understand why it even went to court in the first place. The Sheriff refused to arrest her or follow up because in his words "I am just trying to get back at her and get out of trouble" The court also prohibited me from taking any civil action against her regarding my car until after my trial was over.

Anyways, now you know the real reason I moved out of north dakota.

Looks nice IMO.
