Sean's CSVT #5906 Build Thread !

hey sean you happen to have a set of front control arms? im looking for a stock set to copy(ish) to make adjustable ones!!

cars coming along your almost there now get it done lol i may be up in the hammer on the weekend

I replaced both my front control arms on my 3L project car. I'm sure they're hiding somewhere in my garage. lol

ok so ive hit a total mental roadblock, with the damn harness/plugs. After looking at the vac lines, nothing seemed right so i pulled it all and am starting over fresh, so i need your help!

First off: this hose connects with the grey end onto the evap box thing passenger side firewall. the other end is cut off, so its just the corrugated hose end. where does this go?

100_1421.jpg

Now, heres my ST220 UIM. In this first photo, the side hose goes to my intake tube correct? And yes, the top port was sealed off on my last 3L. The brake booster went to the rear port, facing the ground (seen in pic 2) ...so that leaves the 2 smaller ports (seen in pic 3) so I know one of the green vac lines hooks up here, just have to figure out how to run them? and to moutn it here. And what about the other? Also, since im running the older PCV system with the box between the heads, theres a hose coming from that which went into the bottom of the stock plastic UIM. Where do I hook that up to? (pic 4)

Now, this hose comes from the firewall. Where does it go to?

100_1431.jpg

This harness section, coming from under the UIM, has 3 plugs. One goes to the TB (green tape on it), the one beside goes to the IAC on the manifold, and what about that third one?

100_1432.jpg

more pics: heres my evap box thing, with the 2 corrugated hoses. the bottom loops back and plugs onto a line (pictured), and the top one is really long and is supposed to have that same grey connector i believe, but its been cut off? so its just the hose for the end.

this i believe was for the coilpack in the stock location? which means i dont use it anymore since my coil was relocated to the front beside the valvecover..?

this photo issue FIXED!!! thanks to fogarty_john :) :

the shorter one went to cam sensor which i thought, then the longer one with the same connector went to the crank sensor which was hiding, and the 3rd/last one went to the plug above the AC compressor

if any local members who know what they are doing with a 3L want to stop by and give me a hand with anything it would be much appreciated. I just wanna finish this damn swap and drive the car!! I have beer.

just downloaded you pics uploading them in my photobucket, will edit the pics with instructions i have most of your questions answered. super easy stuff ..... well after you've done it 3 times lol

lol it's ok it was my 3rd but i was a lil lost too, the first two weren't as smooth as the 3rd but it's always a challenge... so without further a due

this line has already been cut, not by me, for the previous motor that was in my car. the end you can see is hooked up to the evap thing on the firewall, and the end you cannot see has that grey connector cut off and is just the tube.
pic001.jpg

i now have a 04 escape motor so the rear cover doesnt have that port, so now i hook up a line to this port from that tube from the box between the heads?
pic003.jpg

this tube i believe went to my intake pipe
pic002.jpg

this hose comes off the box between the heads. so i believe it now should hook up to that rear port on the ST220?
pic005.jpg

this is off that black harness thing on the rear valve cover..i believe it hooked up to the coilpack when it was mounted back there, so i dont think i need it anymore? im not 100% sure though.
pic009.jpg

and as for the harness that comes from under the UIM to the front passenger side, one harness was 02, and then fogarty_john helped me via facebook and the shorter plug went to my cam sensor, the longer one with the same plug went to the crank sensor and the 3rd/last plug went to a plug above the AC compressor.

if the end that is cut is the piece that goes onto the pcv valve, just hook it right onto the vac port on the intake manifold.

my last 3l was an 05 taurus motor so this port did go to the rear valve cover. I now have a 04 escape motor so the rear cover doesnt have that port, so now i hook up a line to this port from that tube from the box between the heads?

pic003.jpg

i can not be 110% positive but if i recal it went to the intake manifold on the stock svt manifold so yes, i would just run a longer hose and adapt it to go to the back port on your new upper intake manifold as noted.

this tube i believe went to my intake pipe

pic002.jpg

yep just hook it up as you had it.

yes your correct, as stated above i think it should hook up to the rear port on the st220 manifold

pic009.jpg

that doesn't hook up to the coil pack, i'm pretty sure it goes to a fluid res. Or it goes to the power steering line. Show me a pic of this plug and stand further back and point it out, that way i know where it's exactly located

and as for the harness that comes from under the uim to the front passenger side, one harness was 02, and then fogarty_john helped me via facebook and the shorter plug went to my cam sensor, the longer one with the same plug went to the crank sensor and the 3rd/last plug went to a plug above the ac compressor.
ok cool

Ill go do all that for you now, and come back with pics lol. Also, what does the end of the brake booster look like? Ive seen most people hook it to the top of the st220 near the TB, but mines sealed off with a bolt. I might try to do that setup but need to know what it connects to?

Ok so my laptop died for now. I got the line on the waterpump to that hose, and ran the hardline up front. So technically, all my coolant lines are done now! Woooo

Leaves me with just finding a way to run the vac lines and st220 uim, then do the passenger CV + ypipe and do all fluids and then its doomsday! Along with running any other little plugs :p

As for that plug Pblack, its coming off the wiring harness at the firewall. Its got nothing else on the same piece, its just a long line with the plug on the end and that grounding pin thing. I have a pic ill upload later.

Ok if the plug is on the passenger side of the car, it goes to the power steering line that connects to the power steering pump, next to the top motor mount. Shoot me pics on here and any questions u have, and pm me after u post them here, so I can respond ASAP.

I already have the plug on the green power steering hookup. i had that one labelled so i wouldnt forget it...this ones different :S

heres a few pics:

heres a pic of a spare harness, with the plug im talking about being the tallest one in the center of the photo, and i believe the P/S one is with the 3 big plugs on the left:

It has 3 holes in the plug right? They both plug into the alternator, that plug goes down not on top.

Let me know if that's it, it's all that it can be.....

Ok so I snuck out and indeed that plug was for the alternator! Don't know how I never thought of that, I guess since it was ontop when the harness was being ran I figured I was missing something up there. Thanks again!!!!!

One step closer...getting soooo close to completion. Next up is tryign to figuire out the green/red vac lines and doing the ST220. First will be figuring out a way to run that PCV hose from between the heads to the rear port, and then see if I can run the brake booster to the top port near the TB on the manifold that's currently sealed by a bolt. This is why I asked what the end of the booster line looks so I can see if it will work with the manifold opening.

Once that is done, all it really needs is the axle installed (getting it tomorrow), and the ypipe. then do all fluids and hook up the battery and see if she cranks over :O

My trunklid will be painted this week, as well as my taillights being tinted. Also picking up my black tuner lugs so i can install my 18s! (Rears for now anyways :p)

The green and red vac lines are easy, use what you need, plug up what u don't need, as far as the vent between the heads, just buy a piece of hose long enough to go from the back of the ST manifold to the crank vent between the heads, and the break booster line, (coming from the booster itself) goes to the other vac port under the throttle body

yeah im sure i can figure the red/green lines out with my friend. I have a nice hose here that might work for the PCV box to the rear port, that will be the next plan of action. For the brake booster, you saying to use one of those small ports? As in these:

pic004.jpg

So id run the red/green/gray line basically together into the left port, and then the booster to the right port?

Actually your almost correct, run the red/green/gray line basically together into the left port, and then on the right port add a small piece of vac line to a "T" fitting and then hook up your hvac line (the one that is cut) to one side of the "T" and then your break booster to the other side of the "T" and you will have all your vac lines hooked up.. can take a pic if you need me to, that's how i have mine set up, and it works great.
