Sean's CSVT #5906 Build Thread !

Perfect, that's the easiest explanation I've been given yet, so thanks haha. Yeah if you could take a pic for visual reference that would be awespme, although I am pretty sure I know what to do now!

Also, so that corrugated hose off the top of the evap box thing with my cut end is the HVAC hose?

glad it could make it easy for you .. my experience helps.. i had to figure all that out on my own :(

yes the corrugated hose with the cut end is you hvac hose.

Awesome, well ill let you know what happens/if I run across any issues! Hopefully by sunday night I can try cranking her over and see if it starts , which would be amazing <3 haha

Well is u do as I did it should crank up.... That's if you don't have any other issues... And Sunday? What's taking u so long???

Well i work everyday, so weekends are my main days to work on it. Plus, i still need to pick up my passenger axle, my trunklid, taillights and my tuner lugs. so tomorrow and thursday evening i get a chance to work on it, and then all weekend. luckily i have next week off so im hoping its done so i can get alot of cruising time in for break-in

im HOPING theres no issues haha, with what ive been through already, it would be nice to hear the nice exhaust tone when it cranks..fingers crossed!

Wow... you need to check out the 3L section a lot more. All of your ST220 manifold questions have already been answered and in great detail. The search button is your friend all you had to do is search ST220 vacuum lines. The thread is actually titled ST220 vacuum lines

I already did that, and read through that thread. Maybe it was just me, but I didnt fully understand the way to set it up. Especially since he was using the top port for the brake booster and mines sealed off.

I understood Pblacks description right away, guess I prefer more simplified instructions. My main concerns were going from the PCV from my old motor to this 04 Escape with the diff PCV....

Also, im only 21....I dont know as much quite yet, so the easier it is explained, the easier I learn it all

I didn't think it was that complicated. Heck I put pictures and descriptions... what more does a guy need lol.

In any case I saw your top port is plugged... it just looks like a bolt... can't you just take it out?

Here is the post with the pics and descriptions I thought it was cut and dry, but as long as what you have works I guess. I personally would be more inclined to route it the way it was intended from the factory.

Just thought I'd update this thread for everyone...

I've done some digging of my own in preparation for my own ST220 UIM install. I downloaded some helpfully programs, Mircocat (ver2010) and Ford TIS (ver2004). Ford ITS is bascially the exact same thing as the Ford Service CD many of you have, but it is for Ford Europe. Microcat is basically a dealer parts catalog which shows exploded views of different systems and allows you to determine Ford Europe part numbers for any part on the car. In doing this I have identified 3 of the 4 ports on the ST220 and what they connect too. See snap shots below.

First this picture helped a lot as it's an actual Mondeo ST220. This I found over at STdriveRS.co.uk

then this one to clarify the unknowns from the last pic....

Just updating this thread. The last two vacuum lines have been identified by my shear luck of looking through the classifieds. Guess I was wrong about the EVAP mounting on the firewall... or rather the Ford service manual didn't show it correctly. Also had the lines crossed as well, although I don't think it would have made a difference.

EVAP solenoid valve and fuel pressure regulator FTW ;)

What is that black box on the one small port?

It's equivalent to the black box you should have on the firewall of your car just above the alternator. It's part of the EVAP system. It's what that gray connector on the line that you showed earlier that was cut from the previous owner should be going to.

Ah okay, now what lines are what on the blox on the firewall?

The top grey connector hose with the cut end is hvac? Then there's one that loops under it and I also have a rubber line coming from it too

That line in the picture is the EVAP line that needs to connect to that port on the UIM. It should connect to the blox as your calling it and the other line coming out of the blox runs back to the fuel tank area. There should be a thin plastic gray vacuum line that runs into the firewall and into the cabin where it connects up to the climate control unit. That is the vacuum source for the climate control to operate the various diaphragms that control the venting system. That line can be tee'd into the same line as the fuel pressure regulator.

Ah okay, well I got those vaccum lines done tonight. All that's left is doing the brake booster line, and then it should be all complete.

Now onto my next question- off the wiring harness along the fuel rail, it comes out to 3 plugs...one I knoe is the IAC, one is the TB, and what's the 3rd one for? It looks to be the same connector as the IAC one

That connector is for the EGR valve (black plastic unit that normally bolt on the back of the 2.5L UIM.

ok so got all my vac lines done (fingers crossed everything works)

i have another plug question! theres one on that black plastic rail along the rear valve cover that also has a connection with a green plug going to where the coolant hoses all come from the motor. its a grey connector, with 3 pins i believe. its basically at the very end of that rail thing, and it splits off to the grey plug and the green one as well.

yeah man post some pics !!!! I'm about to go out side and put my alternator back on, (i can do it in 30 minutes) but while I'm out there, I'll look for what your talking about and re-post in a little bit.

Ok heres a few pics of my remaining plugs!

this one was taped off, so obviously for a reason haha. it comes off the fuel rail and has 5 wires. maybe for 2.5L imrc or something?

this plug comes off the fuelrail as well, its the middle plug of the 3 with the IAC and the TB plug. It has a white with green striped wire and and brown with green stripe wire i believe. For EGR? Which i do not have on the ST220..

this one i believe is the TPS, comes off the back plastic rail. it splits off to a wire with the green plug which i have connected already.

and heres my spare harness, its layed out as if you looking into the bay from the front of the car. the 2 most bottom ones being the mystery ones. the big grey one TPS? and the green plug beside it is the one i have connected. and that last one...the long one, its also a 2pin, and it has a white with red stripe wire and a solid purple? wire...

Ok, I'm under the hood now, looking for those wires, but this damn mpv 3L uim is hard to see around... I'll update this post as soon as I know something... And just so I know I'm looking in the right spot, what side of the car would these plugs be located, passenger or driver, a more zoomed out view of the harness would help, since I just threw my old one away 2 weeks ago I don't have another one to look at on the floor.

Posting answers as I can in Red

I think this one goes to the back of your coolant arm.. I think it's the temp switch locates driver side facing the firewall on the coolant arm thing.. With I had a pic but it's the thing that comes out of the side of the block that all the coolant lines hook onto.

The one that's white red and purple I don't have plugged in. It's taped and zip tied up, I might have been the knock sensor on the back of the block, if you have the sensor then plug it in, if not no worries, do as I did. But it doesn't throw a code, only codes I throw are O2 sensor codes and EGR CODES, also the one to the far right is it triangle shaped? If so it's your VSS plug, located on the transmission and it's important, must plug it in, it's the vehicle speed sensor.

251498_10150750388275724_655925723_20331125_2920191_n.jpg

and i have these left, they for the 02 sensors i have cappped off?
I don't know much about the O2 sensors, mine are reading bad, as far as eliminating them ? Idk.. No help from me there..

So the first connector has been confirmed as the IMRC plug.

The plug coming off the rail in the middle of the IAc and TB plug is apparently a coolant temp sensor, which I plan to locate where it plugs in later off your description

The grey plug is a DPFE sensor, which I believe is EGR related and since I'm running the ST220, I don't plug it in anywhere..

And the plug coming off it with the green connector is the knock sensor, so I have that plugged in...hopefully in the right spot! Can anyone explain/have a pic of where its supposed to plug in to confirm its correct?

And the blue plugs are the down+upstream 02s, which I have capped off, so I'm going to tape those off and tuck them away somewhere.

So that leaves me with trying to find locations for plugs today, ill post more pics if I can't find out where they go. Thanks to Pblack and striker2 so far for youe help once again!
