Vortech build

i think the 3.5 would work good with my set up, it just wasnt an option for me at the time

It would, it definitely makes the gears a whole lot longer from the stock FDR, its just a bit much for my NA setup. And yea the decision between 3.5 and 3.86 all depends on what the inside of your trans looks like.

Many issues with the new impeller's fitment. Le sigh.

what's happened ?

Did you pay with paypal, can they help ?

If they described it as a V9 impeller and it doesn't fit, surely you have a case ....G.

Poor quality control is what it comes down to, hopefully they can get it fixed in a timely fashion so we can get Beans 100% ready to go soon.

probably really close fitment as is. if it does work.

true; the last 2mm of the impeller seating on mine, were very tight.

It was a bit scary coz i've never tightened one before and didn't want to strip the thread with the impact gun .... G.

No. They just didn't make it correctly. Going to machine it check specs and return.

Happy for you, that they stood behind their product.

How much other stuff have you got left to do/get ? ...G.

Other than machine work... I think i got the bulk of it. I'll take a picture of it all once the blower is back
Might need more anti collapse vacuum hose, for my iac, bpv but i think thats it.

Ok so here's an update to where we're at... Supercharger rebuild is part done with new bearings pressed on the input and output shafts, new seals are installed and at this point the impeller is on it's way back to SC rebuilds for some re-work. Jackshaft is over at my machinist to be cleaned up and checked for runout. Once I get the jackshaft back I can press on the new bearings and get the jackshaft assembly back together. The missing block print is at a local machine shop and I need to follow up with them to see when they think they can get to it. I'd say probably another 2 weeks or so and this will be on it's way back to Beans.

Can you post up pictures/ details of the jackshaft bearings please.... it'll be good to have that info. in this thread, thanks .....G.

i must be looking in the wrong place.

All i can see is the input/output bearings and seals.

Have you got a link ? It would be good to get the bearings before stripping the shaft down.

Not doing it yet, just planning ahead, it will give me time to find some bearings that last longer than 30K... unless there's something wrong with the shaft design/machining tolerances...... G.

Thanks for that.

Just been reading the NSK site and it says this bearing should have good lubrication !!

NSK 6205DU (25 x 52 x 15 )

NSK 6205DU The Application And Maintenance

NSK bearings is the first bearing Trademark in Japan, it is regarded as the "mechanical industry food".NSK 6205DU advantage is it's pure material and high precision, widely used in different environment and machinery, such as automobile industry, electric motors, gear device, injection molding machine, machine tool, mining machinery, construction machinery, motorcycle, office equipment, paper machine, pumps and compressors, railway field, semiconductor field, metallurgical equipment, wind power generator and so on. In order to keep NSK 6205DU high-performance, we should put it in a clean space with good lubrication, When we check NSK 6205DU, we'd better to clean the surface at first, then remove the peripheral parts. Do not put excessive force when we check and disassembling bearings, in case of the damage of the parts. If the bearing oil seal and its surrounding parts has appeared the adverse symptoms, please replace it, so as not to the bad oil seal damaged the bearing.

maybe running this bearing dry, limits its life ..... G.

Could be...

According to the NSK catalog, download pdf here, page 4, 6205DU sealed and greased is limited to 9,000 RPM. The same bearing open (no seals) and either running in oil bath or pumped oil is limited to 15,000 RPM. What RPM do these jack shafts run?
