Hey beans; do you have your oil union to hand ?

I've just taken mine apart because i suspected not enough oil is getting thru.

When try to blow thru the fitting, it is very hard... does your new one take a lot of effort to get air to go thru it ?

also; the silver mesh/gauze looks like it has been squashed flat on top ... what does a new one look like. ?

I have the one in the second link too. ... G.

Yeah i dont have the fitting i ordered in front of me. I had the broken one and anodized blue fitting. I remember there was not much air going through, needs a good amount of psi i suspect

now i've cleaned it i can see the 2 tiny holes just above the thread.

Looking at the silver gauze inside, it looks like something metal has squashed and blocked all the little holes.

i've checked the blue 45* elbow and it will reach, but the blocked holes are in 4 square patches... if the blue union had caused it, i would have expected a ring of damage

i just wanted to check if the new ones look like that before i ship one over ...G.

ok any help is appreciated.

I'm concerned about running the motor until i get this worked out.

If i put my hand over the end of the volute, the head unit sounds a lot quieter. Think i'm gonna have to swap out the drive belt.

It's a little worrying when you don't know what is normal.

I might try using a lock ring to keep the blue anodized elbow short of the gauze, so oil can get down the sides.

i'll let you know how it goes... G.

Its been a long time since i had anything to do with these forums, but i'm still running my 3.0l SC ST200. When i rebuilt by shaft i used the standard bearing on the pulley side and a self centering bearing on the inner. This helps allow for deflection in the shaft.

Got any part #'s you used stewb?

Got the impeller, was hoping they'd ship it to Andy... Oh well. Took a little off the top.

For the record i Have the kit that CSVTJohnGA had, or the entire car. I will be tearing into it soon. I don't have much data to add at this point but this thread seems like it will be very helpful.

Impeller arrived and jackshaft machining has been completed. Hopefully I'll have some time this weekend to start the reassembly.

Nice, I didn't know CSVTJohnGA had even sold his car. He sent me pics of his coupler setup a while back, looks like a pretty nice setup.

I've had it for a year next week, but it's just been waiting. Well i did take it to the track twice and to the dyno and i think i fubarred the engine. I was setting some baselines before pulling it apart but i haven't driven a FWD car on the track in quite some time so i sucked. I don't post much on here anymore and i guess we were keeping it super secret!

I do need some ideas for intercoolers. I'm not trying to thread jack and maybe i overlooked it but someone stated that there is a member with an air to air intercooler with this kit. I did see the pics of the water to airs and that's a possibility.

The funny thing is that back in the heyday i helped install 2 of these kits. I helped John with his and i helped Blustreak with his install. I completely forgot about the front header until reading this thread. John stuck with mani's but Christian had headers on his. I guess i need to get one of those. Then i need injectors and i think all else is good.

Again i don't mean to threadjack just happy to be talking Vortechs.

Pm svtfixer for his pictures.

Yay things are getting close! Hope that impeller fits right this time!!!!!

So I was able to pick up the freshly machined/cleaned up jackshaft and it looks perfect. I unfortunately did not get a chance to finish rebuilding the unit because we got a snowstorm Saturday night and we weren't able to get to my buddy's shop on Sunday.

With any luck I should have the coupler block back and have some time to get it done next weekend.

Here's an update, I'll let the pics do most of the talking...

Test-fitting the input/output shaft and reworked impeller.
BeansAssy..jpg

Replacement coupler's OD was too large to fit inside the Vortech's "blocks" and needed some work. We turned it down on a lathe from 2.000" to 1.894" (1.900" would have worked). Good info for anyone who needs a replacement coupler.

Loose assembly to check fit of the re-worked coupler.

Jackshaft reassembled and ready to go.

So the next headache is that supercharger rebuilds sent us the wrong o-ring to reassemble the cases. I'm going to be ordering one from McMaster-Carr and should have that in a few days. Once I get that the assembly can go back together. If anyone needs one of these I referenced the diameter and thickness to p/n 9464K513. The diameter is 1/16" (actual .070") and diameter I measured is 5.292". Mcmaster says ID is 5.239" and OD is 5.379". I'll update this once I have it in hand and can test fit. I'm sure someone will need one at some point.

If anybody knows anybody in the UK, i'm looking to sell my ST. It has a massive spec, so dont want it to go for peanuts.
